The Mary Jane Watson from the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series had such a girly voice, but it's understandable that she was voiced by Tara Strong. But you know, the fact that, that version of Mary Jane Watson is a reporter instead of Peter Parker being a photographer for the Daily Bugle feels like Mary Jane Watson is stealing some prominent parts of his life. Mary Jane Watson is usually an actress, model and dancer. She's not a reporter. That's Lois Lane's thing.

I wouldn’t say stealing. Personally, I was never bothered by that change. It made a lot of sense, and it worked with the series. As she was much much more involved with Peters life, than other series when she was an actress/singer/dancer, as those situations just usually felt much more forced.
