In addition Al was one of the nicest guys in comics! Truly an amazing guy.

Williamson was a master of the medium. His ability to render a wide range of textures and the moods he infused his work with are evidence of that. Thanks for helping keep memory of him alive!

Great video. Have you done one on Mac Raboy yet? I would love to see it as he was one of my golden age favorites.

The Menomonee Falls Gazette ; comic strip tabloid of the 1970s carried Al's brilliant Secret Agent Corrigan , my favorite among his outstanding resume. Before Corrigan , Alex , another strip moved from its Earth based adventures to those occurring in outer space : Scorchy Smith in the 1950s drawn by the more cartoony but IMO entertaining style of Rodlow Willard followed by A C Hollingsworth and previous to Scorchy the great Frank Godwin took his adventurous heroine Connie from Earth to outer space in superbly illustrated daily and Sunday strips in the 1940s. I know you have much on your work schedule Alex so I would like to request for future consideration 4 artists and their contributions to the comic scene : Gus Arriola whose "Gordo" comic strip moved away from its stereotypical Mexican antics in the early 1940s and developed in 1949 as a mixed genre work of genius ; especially the 1950s -1960s . I cite Arriola's artistry and storytelling as an unacknowledged influence on The Hernandez Bros " Love And Rockets" work , especially on Jaime. The Bros local paper carried the Gordo strip during their formative years. A D Condo , A once familiar name on comics pages during the Platinum Age created the first sci-fi comic strip , A single panel feature entitled " Mr Skygack From Mars" , Mr Skygack would observe Earthly customs and behaviors and send his interpretation report back home , what Robin Williams would do at the end of each Mork & Mindy show. Al Hubbard whose work on Dell Comics Andy Hardy series and on Gold Keys Disney properties such as Peter Pan , The Jungle Book and my personal #1 Disney character Scamp was drawn in a style that can only , again IMO , be compared to Dave Stevens in an animation beauty. Finally I submit the great Lou Fine's private eye comic strip Peter Scratch as a worthwhile subject of attention.

Al's art from 50 years ago exceeds 90% of today's art in American superhero comics
