You may not like Rob’s art style, you may love it, but you cannot argue how much work he has put in to make comics cool and keep the fan base remembering the greats that inspired him. And he’s right. He is right is his assessments. And he is a damn formidable comic book champion and historian.

This is the best comic book history channel on KZbin. Rob Leifeld is a great ambassador of comics. He has a wealth of knowledge. 🎉

Man, it took me a month to finally finish this. Finally did it doing a massive family load of laundry lol. I gotta say. I loved Robs work as a kid and I love the resurgence he has had in the past decade. He's a true ambassador to comics and I'm glad he's still around putting out great and fun comics and preaching the gospel. Thanks for bringing us this interview.

The most significant comic artist since Jack Kirby. More than Todd or Jim (who are both greats as well).

I loved this interview Alex. I'd fully agree with you that Rob is the tip of the spear who'd made comics fun, exciting, and relevant in the late 80s and early 90s. He'd most certainly drew me back into mainstream comics. Thanks for this interview.

I don't think I have ever heard of the Dragon Lord character and I'm all about reading lesser known characters.

You know, the Image guys get a bad rap from the older generation as being disrespectful, but it’s nice to hear Rob’s passion for comics and the artists who inspired him.

I liked Leifeld in the 90s, but he killed off Warlock... one of my favorites. I was also a big fan of New Mutants pre-Leifeld...

Good interview, but Rob isn't being entirely truthful about the creation of some of the characters he created and is taking more credit than he deserves and he's also coming off a bit arrogant. For example, Walt Simonson has said that his wife Louise Simonson had an idea for a New Mutants leader named Commander X, which Rob reworked into Cable. Also, many years ago in a past interview, Rob said that it was Bob Harris who told him to make Cable a grown up Nathan Summers from the future. As for the creation of Deadpool, while Rob did come up with the design, powers, and the idea that DP was connected to the Weapon X project and PLOTTED the issue, he did not come up with the idea of giving him a sense of humor. That was all Fabian who was writing the DIALOGUE. Fabian was also the person who came up with DP's real name being Wade Wilson. IIRC, Rob has also said in at least one past interview that DP was just a throw away character that he wanted to have fight the New Mutants and that he didn't really have any other plans for the character.

❤ Rob is to me like sugar and salt. His work is sweet as honey until you study details. Then it's salty 😂❤
