Do you know how much collective brainpower makes up Marvel and the MCU? It’s ridiculous. How do these people walk around all the time because their heads are just so full of knowledge? But who’s the ultimate smartypants? Which Marvel or MCU character truly can claim the title of the smartest person in the universe? It’s hard to say, but we certainly got some contenders.
I mean I certainly wouldn’t call any MCU or Marvel hero dumb, well except for Star-Lord but he’s the smart kind of dumb obviously., but there are just other heroes who are leagues ahead of everyone else. Obviously, Tony Stark is on the list for not only all the amazing technology he made but also the fact that he perfected Time Travel basically overnight in Avengers: Endgame. So yeah of course he’s here on the list, but you also have the other heavy hitters like Shuri, Bruce Banner, Peter Parker, and Reed Richards. Sure, Reed Richards and the other Fantastic Four haven’t shown up yet but it’s only a matter of time!

Tony stark literally built an infinity gauntlet, which supposedly only the dwarfs could make, which was why thanos slaughtered them all. Tony as a mere human from earth with no magical abilities invented time travel without any side affects, built a nanotech suit, and built a nano infinity gauntlet. He’s like the Rick Sanchez of the MCU.

Some inaccuracies here, Shuri's intelligence is emphasized in the MCU but remember it is acknowledged that the suit upgrade she gives her brother is an improvement, not on her suit design, but his. So there are references to his cleverness if you pay attention. Quite a few characters in the MCU superficially come across as not smart but are actually smarter than people think if you pay attention. Thor and Star lord for instance. As for Cap he is definitely a brilliant tactician and that takes a very specific sort of intelligence. I note that this video forgot to mention that not only is Bruce a scientist he's also a medical doctor. Not a discipline Tony Stark has mastered. I disagree that Peter is portrayed as less smart in the MCU than in the comics. He is portrayed as making his own web fluid and coming up with strategic solutions, just like Cap, for instance in the rescue of Doctor Strange and the defeat of Ant Man in his Giant Man persona. His mistakes, as they are portrayed, are more about naiveté and the need for a father figure than an indication of stupidity or a lack of common sense. For instance the father figure thing also leads him, in Civil War, to trust Iron Man's rhetoric over Captain America's stance. Even though philosophically Captain America's stance is actually more aligned to Peter's own life view. He has the science thing in common with Tony but morally and life view wise, especially at that stage in his life, I have always seen Peter as more closely aligned to Steve Rogers than to Tony Stark. Emotions as well as intelligence play a part in the decisions people make. As an example of a clever Avenger whose intelligence is not really considered Natasha Romanoff is frequently shown cracking into high security systems, speaks at least 4 languages, including Latin, and made a psychological evaluation of Tony Stark, on behalf of Shield. It's not likely they would ask for such an evaluation from an unqualified person so this indicates that she might well be a qualified psychologist. Take note of the trick she pulls on Loki, getting the truth from him about his plans in literally a few seconds. Psychology well applied.

I don't think there is necessarily a smartest Avenger just like there isn't the most beautiful woman in the world or even the greatest warrior.

Betty Ross is a doctor and worked with Bruce on the gamma experiments that created the Hulk, then we have Sterns, who figured out how to supress a Hulk episode and made an antidote for the Hulk and then obviously there's Bruce who is an expert on gamma technology and he has 7 freaking phds

I’d like to add two more, Loki and Darcy Lewis. Loki has out played Thor and the Avengers countless times, and as it’s shown in his tv show, he is very logical. It’s only his emotions and ego that get in the way (much like Tony). Darcy, while possibly less smart than Jane, is in her league, and in Wandavision is shown to be able to actually connect to the shows wavelengths.
