At one stage Reed is fixing part of Rhodeys Iron Man costume and Rhodey asks him if he ever thought there might be a black man under the armour. Reed says he hadnt thought about it because under the armour he knew that there was a man. Its a great moment.

Colossus actually goes home and immediately attempts to break up with Kitty, leading to one of the greatest issues of the X-men ever, where Wolverine gets mad at Colossus and takes him out to a bar. Colossus then proceeds to get in a fight with Juggernaut in the bar, while wolverine just watches going "and that's what you get when you break a girls heart."

The Colossus and Kitty relationship broke up because of what happened in the Secret Wars. As soon as they got back he told her about it. They really did not get close to getting back together till the Jose Whedon written Astonishing X-Men in the 2000s, The book is alot better than the way they portrayed it. It had long term repercussions, like their relationship, magneto being an ally of the X-men, Julia Carpenter as a character and of course Venom. Better than alot of the so-called "huge events" they have now

Hey Sal, in this video you mention Colossus' random alien girlfriend Zsaji and how their brief romance is more or less forgotten afterwards. Well I'm reading Claremont's original run of New Mutants in an attempt to try and enjoy more older comics that aren't Frank Miller or Watchmen. Well as luck would have it, in NM #24, Colossus is in a weird Sienkiewiczesque dreamscape, and he dreams of his true love. Only instead of just Kitty Pryde showing up, it's Kitty AND ZSAJI! I guess Claremont was paying attention to what other writers were doing with his toys back in the day.

I wouldn't normally mention this, but, given Ethan's question about the physiques of Doom's teleported lady-friends, I feel it's appropriate: assuming the name is taken from the Shakespearean character (and not just 'cus it sounds like titanium), Titania is actually pronounced "Tit-tonya." And the name would be silly if she wasn't busty.

They did address Colossus' affair in the issue of X-Men right after they returned. Wolverine took Colossus out to a bar and they find Juggernaut and Colossus fights him. Wolverine doesn't help because he wants Juggernaut to kick his ass to teach him a lesson.

There is one panel where Reed Richards finds out it's not Tony Stark under the armor. He had to take a piece of the armor off of Rhodes to try and heal an injury. Reed doesn't see his face nor find out his name though. Rhodes asks him if he felt different after finding out there was a black man under the armor,Reed just brushes it off and says, "I hadn't thought about it" and goes back to work.

The Colossus- Alien chick thing eventually did come up in Uncanny X-Men 183, where Wolverine and Nightcrawler take Colossus to a bar to get drunk, after Colossus and Kitty had a talk about their relationship. Unfortunately the Juggernaut also drinks in the same bar, and He and Colossus starts to fight, Colossus gets his ass beat, and Wolverine tells Colossus that He had this coming, since He was a dick to Kitty. No, Reed Richards and Tony Stark come up w' the idea of digging a hole to shelter them in a split second before the mountain drops. As the Hulk holds up the mountain Reed uses tech from Iron Mans gauntlets and Spider-Mans web-shooters etc. to augment Iron Mans repulser rays enabling them to blast a hole through the mountain.

I remember at one point in the story Mr Fantastic is repairing part of the Iron Man armour so you can see Rhodey's arm and he just has to say he bet Reed wasn't expecting a black man under the armour. Ah the 90's. Also by this point the only Avengers who knew Tony's secret identity were Cap and Thor. I think my favourite part of this story is when Spider-Man completely trounces Titannia, to be fair I really enjoyed the whole fight when the heroes finally defeat the villains mid way through the book. I know I shouldn't like it so much because it is kind of stupid, but I do really enjoy this story.

As an X-Men reader I can confirm when Colossus returns he admits to Kitty he loved this alien chick, which obviously ends the relationship, although Kitty held back her anger until many years later in Astonishing X-Men, when an older Kitty discovers Colossus was resurrected from the whole Legacy virus sacrifice (hey, it’s comics!) she ends up falling for him again leading to sex. But… she does eventually flip out at him on multiple occasions with once instance of bringing up the Colossus cheating on her with the alien chick from Secret Wars. Of course that only leads to them having more random sex, because you know… it’s adult Kitty!

Awesomely Bodacious and Hilarious. Ok. At the time X-men hardly ever teamed with non mutants (Wolverine hadn't become an Avenger for years yet), Hulk had a Banner brain and wasn't at full strength and had a blue blue arm and leg brace most of the series, Tony was drunk at the time and doesn't get his mojo back until Armor "WARS" and this event kicked off Web of Spiderman (Which was a big thing that year). The SECRET was what happened because in all the comics there was a time jump with no explanations and you needed to wait all 12 issues to fricken find out. Oh yeah and Lockheed's gf turned giant. You need to finish up with Secret Wars 2 so I can watch Ben and Ethan's minds explode. Sal you are the man. If you ever need a virtual host hit me up.

It's also interesting that Secret Wars (created strictly to sell a toy line) was such a huge seller that it kicked off the age of yearly crossovers, inevitably leading to the Crisis over on the other side of the fence, which erased a lot of what was going on in the equivalent DC toy line (Super Powers) from the comics (like Luthor's battle armor).

One of my favorite moments in X-Men in the 80s was after Secret wars when Colossus breaks it off with Shadowcat, and Wolverine and Nightcrawler take him out to talk to him about it, and Juggernaught is at the bar and Colossus is acting like a douchebag and gets into a fight with Juggernaught, but Wolverine keeps Nightcrawler from getting involved and Juggy actually beats Colossus, but then since the bar got destroyed, Juggy actually throws money down for its repairing, and sorta nods at the rest of the X-Men, like he would attack them, but he was doing some downtime and wasn't really in the mood for a Super hero vs Super villain fight. I don't know why but I just love that.

If I remember correctly, the Colossus relationship with the healer chick in Secret Wars was partially because Kitty was like 14 in the comics at that point, and the statutory law issue was going to come up eventually considering how slowly these characters age.

Oh, and there was a great issue after this where Colossus, depressed by the break-up with Kitty, gets drunk at a bar and fights an also-off-duty Juggernaut. Also, Wolverine's there. It's great.

Was going to try and correct you and say that there were a bunch of women action figures from the X-Men before the 90s, but that was the 90s after all...and they were all just repainted versions of the same figure (the toybiz 10 inch Polaris and Rogue I had were the same figure, and it looks like the Jean grey and Mistique were the same figure repainted too).
