See this is why ComicPop is the best KZbin channel for comics. No other channel is gonna go out of their way to interview an editor from the 90’s that can tell us all these cool things we’d never know otherwise. Great stuff Sal!

This was amazing thank you for thinking of this Sal! Also the people that insisted/ Insist Peter and MJ get divorced and not get back together infuriate me lol

It is a CRIMINAL offense to produce so much AWESOME content and have so little recognition. Sal is basically interviewing historical people and they seem to enjoy the conversations 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Awesome job Sal ❤❤❤

Man this is sooo interesting. As someone born in 1987, who grew up reading the clone saga, the Peter and MJ marriage being an absolute it is really interesting hearing the perspective of the behind the scenes at the time, and shows in some respects they had no need to worry, I still found Peter relatable, I could just go to older stories to see a young Peter, but found comfort in the fact he and MJ eventually got together.

Sal, THANK YOU for continuing to interview these figures and preserving the history of comics. As an aspiring writer and amateur comic historian you have provided me with absolutely invaluable resources for furthering my knowledge. What you're doing is not just entertaining but also important.

It's Always interesting to hear Glenn bring interviewed by Sal. Even when he's talking about something like getting MJ and Peter divorced or something that regresses the characters, it's fun and informative. Sal, probably these interviews aren't watched that much, but man you're doing a great job. Keep it that way. Now you only have to get Bill Jemas in here and let him talk about Marville.

As someone who grew up with my dad's collection of 80s and 90s comics, these episodes with Glenn have been some of the most interesting and fun interviews on the channel to me

Personally I don't think decisions should be made to shake up the status quo of a character just cuz it's "relatable" Like, MJ and Peter should only have stories surrounding their marriage that make sense for the characters not because there's some idea that relatability above anything else needs to be forced onto the characters.

I love these interviews for their boots on the ground insight into comics. And I hope the creators and editors and everyone involved are happy to get some attention and love too. We as a comic loving audience owe all these folks so much and it's wonderful just listening to them.

Great stuff to hear how things were in the 90’s. As a spidey fan kinda hurts to know how much some hated the marriage even then (and now just seemingly the relationship).

I love “Goblins at the Gate” I remember when I first read it, being in the UK I read my books in compilations of 3 issues every month, so we were always about a year behind America, but we would occasionally get older classic books sprinkled in. When this story came out, it covered the whole issue with a break down of Hobgoblin Lives, and because I had no context I just assumed that Kingsley was always the Hobgoblin. With that and the animated series just basically made me love Hobby.

35:30 Interesting bc the common narrative is that Marvel was like that with the different editors for X-Men, Avengers, Spider-Man, etc. Plus, the stuff with the Image guys. But this story makes way more sense.

Great interview, although the marriage discussion at the end was such a bummer. I have always thought divorce at a young age would be super relatable because people who are young can make mistakes like that. I would've preferred that to a magical do-away.

On the Subject of Norman Osborn's resurrection in the comics at the end of the Clone Saga; While I am not all privy to the conversations that happened between the editors and writers during those final months of the Clone saga and the discussions that led to Norman coming back, it would not surprise me in the least if the Spider-Man Animated Series has something to do with it. Because by 1996 the tv show had all this slow, methodical lead up to establish Norman as a threat to Spider-man, and then by season 3 in 1996 he becomes the Green Goblin and he is by far the most formidable villain to debut on that series. And by the end of the third season, that climactic battle between Peter and the Goblin occurs just months before Peter Parker: Spider-Man # 75. So whether it was just true serendipity and a stroke of good luck or the fact that both the comics and the cartoon were able to reintroduce Norman Osborn as a bona fide threat to Spider-Man and inevitably the MU at large probably had a lot to do with that bit of hegemony in 1996 thanks in part to the Spider-man cartoon series and the tail end of the clone saga.

When DC had Star Trek the Green Lantern book had a Vulcan Green Lantern... Also a green skinned person was seen in starfleet who looked like a guy from Colu. He was 100% not an Orion either. The Vulcan Green Lantern name was named Saarek. He is still canon but no longer a proper Vulcan.

Fun Fact : If you were lucky enough to ever own the TPB of the Revelations story ( which i saw only once in my life and still regret NOT buying >.< ) Spiderman #75 they have added/extended pages which show Norman getting up from the debris that collapsed on him, along with other epoligue stuff for Ben.
