I'm enjoying the Absolute and Ultimate universe lines. In general, I still prefer the Ultimate universe right now, especially since it's more established. I mirror Sal on the Absolute line, Batman is the best, Wonder Woman is good, and Superman I'm not super sold on just yet. The Ultimate line is just killing it. I love the four mainline books, and Ultimate Wolverine has a decent if safe start. Ultimate Spider-Man 13 had my jaw on the floor with some of the reveals. 6160 Ultimate Universe got me back into comics in a big way, and I even went out of my way to get Ultimate Invasion in trade and hunt down the Ultimate Universe free comic book day issue to get the full story. Peach Momoko's Ultimate X-Men is so radically different from everything else, I can't help but adore it. Ultimate Black Panther is just a solid book. Ultimates has had several top tier issues. The fact that it's all leading up to a return of The Maker makes it all feel like we're building to a huge event, and I can't wait to see what happens.

Ive been reading trades for a few years but Ultimate Spider-Man is my first time I’ve gone “I’m buying this monthly and buying the trade afterwards” and it’s so fun and exciting. I was doing that with Ultimates as well but after I realised I didn’t pre order issue 5 I just never went back so I’m going to wait for the trade there. I need to read Absolute Wonder Woman still and I wasn’t sold on issue one of Absolute Superman but I’ve heard great things so I’ll be going back. I have been reading Absolute Batman (like everyone else it seems) and it’s been great. This is exactly what both Marvel and DC needed. I’d like to see an Absolute Nightwing, whatever that looks like and an Ultimate Daredevil written by JMD. I’m shocked we haven’t seen Daredevil yet even if isn’t Matt.

Well considering both titles were the best selling comics of last year, I would say yes. But let me give you a better idea of how good the new universes are. My sister has been getting some of the Ultimate and Absolute comics for me, as she lives closer to a comic book store compared to me, so she has been reading them before she comes and visits me. A few days ago she was reading Absolute Batman, and her roommate saw her reading it. She was curious about it, and so my sister let her read the issues she had. She liked it so much she decided to read Absolute Wonder Woman and Absolute Superman comics my sister had. Now my sister's roommate wants to go to the comic book store to buy the Absolute comics for herself and even pick up some of the Ultimate comics, as they are easy jumping on points for her. The new universes are such good jumping on points for new readers, people who weren't reading comics are taking interest in them.

As someone that was skeptical of Snyder’s writing I didn’t pick up absolute batman. But I watched a few minutes of this, Sal. Stopped. Went and read issue 1 and I agree. It is a good story and I will be catching up. As a lifelong Bat fan who read trades from the public library as a kid, Absolute Batman feels a lot more like the 70s and 80s stories I read that made me fall in love with Batman as a character
