Muppet Drew: "Why haven't you blocked this channel yet?" Muppet Mumbles: "Perch always puts me to sleep before I can hit the button." Both: "Doh ho ho ho ho ho ho ho!"

My wife, who is a complete normie, heard about the Harley fart comic today. Her reax: "Who the hell is that comic for?!?" Twitter arguing over the comic is something to see. That's gonna generate a lot of blocks.

My son showed me an article about this comic and I said yeah, I saw already. And he laughed wondering why I bother with comics.

Jokes on them. I don’t have Twitter so they can’t block me. If I was on Twitter, for sure I would be blocked. But would I care? I don’t think so but I sure as wouldn’t bother with them either.

But how are you as a Retailer not rallying against this? I will never buy a book from a creator that I’ve been blocked by. How am I supposed to want to give them my patronage and money, time and physical space? Because of Blocklists and Adjacency? How does this sell comicbooks? I love buying comics from my LCS and I’m the one who had to accept this and still give them my money? That’s ridiculous! That would be me a sucker and a b!tch. No way! I’ve never had a direct engagement with John McCrea and I love his work. But he’s got me blocked. Do you think I’m ever going to buy anything of his again? And I’d love to get HITMAN again but now? NFW! With the future of the LCS becoming a real concern how does this help sell comics? I take it personally. It is personal. Thanks for the video, Perch.

I got blocked by EVS on Facebook for telling him my signed New X-Men comic only cost me £5.

That's actually pretty funny. I mean, it's stupid, but it's funny.

Comics creation has always had an unpleasant underbelly to certain degrees, and the whole crowdfund thing is just the latest manifestation.

Tje biggest people I got blocked by on Twitter were Slott and Tim Sheridan

I don’t think I’m blocked by Slott, I seen a post he made and I was able to look at his page, that was a few years ago.

For years I would never block anyone, but this year I was forced to block a bunch of people, because they would just fill my notifications with pictures & meme. And 95% of them all have DBZ pfp, these are the most annoying anime fans.

Same, I never block people but this year I blocked a ton to curate my feed to mainly just art.

Why not just mute them? Why block them? Or is this on platform that doesn’t have muting?

That's pretty much my story coming back to comics during pandemic and at first being excited and buying and trying new things only to see the culture war stuff and the lack of quality books and reboots and regretting buying as many new books as I did although it did help the comic shops. In 2025 there is nothing new that exciting. I will continue to visit shops for older books and trades and I do enjoy conventions with friends and family but this industry needs some fixing

I only ever block people that show up to be intentionally insulting. If you come at me in good faith you’re welcome to disagree. I’m still glad to have you!

I’m probably blocked by most of these people too, I’ve just never checked to see. I just don’t interact with them except once or twice I’ve asked a mangaka a question but that’s it. I didn’t even interact with Tom King, he was the first creator I searched for & was how I got into all the comics KZbin channels. I was reading his Batman run & hated it, so I went to see who King was, but I didn’t interact with him. I then just went to KZbin to see if anyone else disliked it.

After the fire I have plenty of space for comics but I’m not bothering with any current comics from the Big Two or comic creators who have been a-holes.

To be honest, I don't get the whole "following" thing....if I wanna see an artists' work, I use a search engine. I don't think if I'm following some celebrity, we're suddenly friends.

I am limited to Instagram for my social media and only follow a handful of comic creators, so I don't have this experience myself just yet (I don't think the Zuck has implemented chain blocking). For me, a cowardly block is exemplified when the blocked never acted in bad faith and was respectful the entire time. It's one thing to come in hot about how Paul is the worst and get blocked (no matter if he is or isn't), it's another thing entirely if you had a reasonable take about why keeping Spider-Man in a perpetual state of "loser Peter Parker" does more damage to the character long-term than a marriage to MJ and get blocked. Similarly, who is worse: someone who blocks everyone who disagrees with him or her, or someone who refuses to stop engaging with people he or she likely should have blocked a long time ago? Does blocking the latter mean you never get the chance to get the last word in, stalker child?

I think a lot of these issues would be resolved, if comic pros had a social media manager running their sites for them.

Heh, I've run afoul of those block lists despite having never said anything politically controversial on Twitter. (On purpose.). So I go to another browser to check Twitter without being logged in to see what their tweets say. I can't respond, but at least I can satisfy my curiosity. After that, they're dead to me anyway. ;-)

Unsubscribing to Comics by Perch can also be a gift. Watching daily videos of endless drivel that has very little to do with comics has also become an addiction. These KZbin algorithms push & reward quantity over quality videos just like any other addiction. If you want that advertiser revenue you better pump out those daily video addiction fixes for your addicts. Best Wishes in your future endeavors, Perch.
