Don't know about the Hulk connection, but the Toxic Ooze that mutated them fell off the truck that hit Matt Murdock, and is the same stuff that blinded him and gave him his powers as Daredevil.

For some reason, none of the comic channels cover Ten Inch Mutant Ninja Turtles. It's self contained, and explains why the Hulk's gamma sauce in the sewers is absolutely true. I thought I was the only one who was aware of this fact.

***** it was the opposite for me. I grew up with the Spider-Man cartoon a decade back, so I was used with the kingpin. He surprised me when he showed up fighting DD. What I really like about Marvel is how often different characters cross over, especially in New York and Hells Kitchen. Can't say I've noticed as much crossovers in DC, though I've only been reading comics since this year :).
