Who is the one person Darkseid doesn't want to smoke with? Seriously, heroes and villains who seem fearless have anxiety about certain villains or heroes, and why they feel that way would be interesting, especially if it's not who we think it is.

the problem with ridiculously powerful characters like sentry is you can't really put them everywhere like with spiderman, iron man, etc because he could potentially just...win every fight, that's why wwhulk vs sentry was so good, hulk was just SO powerful that the only thing they COULD do was call in the superman stand in, very similar reason to why you only really see franklin richards whenever galactus is around, and even then it's not guaranteed

Sentry reminds me of a character owned by Marvel named "Miracle Man". The story of Sentry's origin is very similar to Miracle Man with the amnesia and being nearly all-powerful to the point you can almost say it was copied. The character was created by Neil Geiman, then because the comic was initially called Marvelman there was litigation for nearly 20 yrs and Marvel ended up with the property. Rob please cover or even just read this comic, I promise you won't be disappointed. Also, one day you gotta cover the MARVELS tpb drawn by Alex Ross. I feel like it was as good as Kingdom Come if not better. I'd love to know your opinion on both.

I really really wish they did more with Perfected Merged Sentry. They easily could have made him using the Gogeta/Vegito formula where 1+1=3(or 4) and make him into something close to Superboy Prime.

robert renolds is one of the few caracters in marvel that truly posseses unlimited potential meaning he doesn't posses a hard coded limit tied to his being,meaning he has no real upper celing he can hit on *his own* , his mental state does restrict the amount of potential he can tap into to use at a certain time out of his total potential this could be one of the reasons on why the void can display greater amount of raw potential converted into power due to him(the void) knowing itself very well.

It is important to state that he ''feared'' the void when he was below worldbreaker, these days base hulk would easly rip apart the void with relative no diff. Current hulk is fighting against multiversial elder gods that is older then the first multiverse and is working up to taking down the mother of horrors who is equal in power to TOAA, who is hulks legit power battery. These days there is like close to no character in fiction who can take the hulk down as he is been amped to be 100% immortal as even death stated it and had no limit to he's powers with resistance to reality warping and everything else.

There are too many versions of hulk at this point. Everytime marvel realizes he’s not the strongest they change him. The original hulk strength levels made more sense for the character.

@@Gettin_chunky not really, we got grey hulk aka joe fixit, savage hulk, devil hulk aka immortal hulk, world breaker aka green scar, and thats the hulks, all have diffrent levels of power and intelligence with the green scar still the strongest since the world breaker arc, he just never emerges because he's strength starts off at abstract levels so he has to be kept away. But even back in the days there was a reason why hulk was always depowered or nerfed or just staright up removed from the stories, and thats because he can always single handedly solo all villains if he wanted to. hulk stories are allot like supermans, its not just about winning because thats easy, its usually some mental thing at the same time for hulk while its humanity for superman.

Nice video, but you should have brought us up to date on where the Sentry was as of 2024 comics. The Sentry was such an awesome character because he was all powerful in might, but his psychosis and restraining the void made him virtually impotent. There are and were so many wonderful story ideas that involved threading that needle. Then they go and nerf his power. Didn't Thor take the Sentry down? It is the same situation with what they did to the Beyonder. :_(

Marvel made their Superman, then quickly realized the issue DC comics has had to deal with for decades. Superman is rather hard to write stories for! And they have been doing it consistantly, month after month. Marvel realized its mistake and now leaves Sentry out to pasture 99% of the time.

If Hyperion and the Sentry are really going to be the main antagonists in the Thunderbolts, I can see this being a 1A-1B type of thing. I wonder if Robert Reynolds is going to appear as a friend to the Thunderbolts at first and then gradually become more antagonistic towards the team as the film progresses. Hyperion could be the initial threat to the team, then it could be revealed that the Sentry was the real threat the entire time.

If you're going to Explain comics then tell the truth. Santry and Hulk did not fight to a stand still. They both reverted to their 'human' forms but Banner was standing over a collapsed and defeated Sentry with firey Green eyes. Seconds later, Hulk was raging again. Hulk won that fight and it is also confirmed that he was holding back. In other story lines I am sure Sentry will win and vice versa, but please stop saying it was a stand still. It clearly wasn't.

I never understood this, can someone clarify. Is the Void SEPARATE from The Sentry, or is he just part of him? It seems to have changed a few times (Especially when Bendis was using The Sentry ALL THE TIME!). I thought that he was originally part of him, but then they were separate. If so, why didn’t we see The Void after Knull killed The Sentry? I loved the Jenkins/Lee mini. But yeah, it seems like he was never really meant to be part of the regular Marvel Universe.

That single Sentry series is the latest, most important for The Sentry. He integrates the void, as one does with their "shadow" in Jungian psychology. The Sentry is the most powerful being there, absolutely epic beyond all else. The Sentry and that series doesn't go anywhere because of Disney is running a woke ideology. He doesn't fit the "diversity" image, being white. Let's be honest the decline in Marvel's writing, seen through Disney much broader, is painful. Storm is pretty cool, but she's the poster girl for the movement. Happy for storm fans. The Blue Marvel gets woke push too, it's so obvious, and the re-writing of the marvel "gods". Left wing politics is degrading Marvel, and The Sentry, who could have been the greatest ever, is thrown the side.

hmm... makes me think what if you have a super hero setting where most heroes are your more standart "Protector of cities" scale in power and theres that one super super hero that does NOTHING, no villain ever tries to mess with him and the super super never uses their power. Villains even go out of their way to tell new villains to never mess with him. cause this super super is ONLY ever called upon if shit REALLY goes wrong, cause using his powers awakens his world ending nemesis that none of teh other supers could ever challenge, only the super super could. and the threshold for the nemesis to arrive is not going over the threshold once, its the cumulative sum of uses of powers of the super super. this is what sentry could essentially be a SUPREMELY powerfull super you only call upon if shit goes sideways cause his powers might accidentally call in an even bigger threat.

I appreciate that you explain these stories out so I can't deny you the thumbs-up. But the story itself of the Hulk being scared of anyone or anything is not a path I ever want to explore. And since there's many variations of the Hulk, I have to believe that not all of them are scared of The Void. There has to be at least ONE that isn't. It was bad enough to watch him get defeated so effortlessly by Thanos (I know that they were trying to show just how tough Thanos was) and I still haven't recovered from that yet. Now I have to deal with my favorite guy being scared of a single person is really destroying my image of him. The strongest one there is. The last things to survive would be The Hulk and roaches. Writers are slowly picking away at everything that makes the Hulk, Hulk. I'm not enjoying this path at all.

Savage hulk definitely is and world war/word breaker seems to have a large amount of respect for sentry so I assume he will also fear the void but in a more… respectful way. Idk or care who’d win between them but world breaker hulk seems like the type to swing if he knows you can take it and question if and when he has a reason to. Immortal/Devil hulk persona that popped out in the immortal hulk run seems like the type that doesn’t really “fear” anything but he’d know that’s not a fight he wants if he can help it. Titan Hulk? Absolutely not. Idek if that monstrosity can do anything but REEEEEE really fucking hard but unless I’m missing some lore that version of hulk doesn’t fear shit. Mate! I really love it when you do Sentry videos. He is hands down my fav marvel character. I feel robbed by marvel though. I loved how Bendis re-introduced him in Avengers breakout - but after that it was all meh. I hate how people like Donny Cates claim they love the Sentry, only to have Knull rip him in half. I'd love to see a story where Sentry gets to 'cut loose' and show his terrifying power. For anyone interested in a very funny read - Thunderbolts King in Black is very witty. A rag tag team of villains are trying to hunt down Sentry's body to use it as a bomb. I hate that Sentry is dead and his corpse is being dragged around like roadkill, but credit to the writers. I am hoping and praying we get a solid, scary, action filled and meaningful Sentry story one day.... Thanks for vid! Please keep the Sentry vids coming!

He is not actually afraid of him he sees as much potential in him as he does in himself, he is perhaps is startled or stunned by Sentry sheer nigh or potent infinite power (his own unstableness it what holds him back however without it he is stable and very OP) however Hulk is still powerful enough to endure Sentry power projecting against him as he can dish out his own back at Sentry however Sentry is just as unfazed as much as Hulk can be during their battles or rivalries.

I would like to see Jeff Lemire's concept continue where the identities of Robert Reynolds, Sentry and the Void all merge as one complete being and go forward from there. As I felt the separate identities plot kept the character weak and limited.

There are many ways to use a character like the Sentry, they just need to commit. He is the ultimate plot device as he is strong enough to end many conflicts but has to spend most of his time holding back the void which weakens him by how many ever % the story requires. Have a big bad threatening the universe? Have Sentry make the ultimate sacrifice and give into the Void and have the Void go toe to toe with the big bad no one else could beat. Endless possibilities.
