The hulk and sentry is such a great dynamic because they basically have the same struggle. I would love just a run on the two of them like Thor and Hyperion. End with an epic scene where the two except the truest form of their inner demon to overcome what no one else could. I want a panel with the void and the hulk essentially becoming the one below all.

always loved the sentry as a character and thought there was so much to him. but sadly marvel have never really written him properly apart from a few one offs like this, but instead used him as almost like a plot device for writers if they have written themselves into a corner or to just make a villain look strong like knull. im hoping that with him being in thunderbolts that his popularity just rises in general so he gets more stories and features like the character actually deserves

When they merged Sentry with the Void, I thought maybe that would be the launching pad for some better stories or at least have him used more regularly. I remember reading this story YEARS ago and really enjoyed it. I feel that Marvel has yet to find a writer that can actually do something really special with the Sentry like this story. He's been written so much as scared of himself, which was a departure from his portrayal here. He has the potential to be a Superman / Venom hybrid in terms of character, but it hasn't really been hit on. I'm still holding out hope Marvel finds a writer that can do something special and Canon with him.

You have to think as well just how powerful the sentry's will power at this point to forget is, the fact he remembered to a degree smiled then carried on as if the memory didn't appear shows how strong and desperate he is to keep the void coming back again it's heartbreaking he can never be his true self again and to do so means the annihilation of all existence.

The Sentry.. The Apex Super Hero! amazing story and that respect the Hulk and the others all have for The Sentry speaks volumes. There are a few things to clear up about the Sentry. 1. The Sentry is the most human, superhero, and he symbolizes the very human soul, the consciousness and unconsciousness and his power is limitless, like how our consciousness functions in reality. 2. The Void represents Carl Jung's concept of the shadow which is not separate, but a part of the one soul, the repressed negative side of us, our immoral side, that stays hidden and projects onto the world around us, destroying it (when we do bad things) 3. The Void is raw and without restriction but is ultimately NOT more powerful than The Sentry. It just so happens that like humans, to integrate our shadow and gain total control over those negative expressions, is quite difficult. It just depends on where The Sentry is on his path to self discovery / realization. (MORE SOLID WRITING IS NEEDED, NOT PATHETIC PLOT DEVICES TO MAKE SOMEONE LOOK STRONG WITH A SIMPLE DEFEAT OF THE SENTRY...KNULL...) 4. The Sentry, with integration of his shadow, facing him, not turning away, weakens the Void and empowers himself further, limitlessly. ( Like us humans) 5. Every superhero and human in existence has their void, their Shadow, The Void just shows how powerful the Sentry is, which also pales in comparison to The Sentry with steps taken to integrate the Void. (They did show this concept in another epic comic, insane power) Ahh Rob, still throwing in your adam brashear comment... lol bro, blue marvel is 2nd strongest, say it. Even in BM's OWN comic, with s story written for him, The Sentry stops him.
@justinmcdonald2072 Жыл бұрын
The Sentry at times is weaker than the Void or this series goes overboard to keep the Void contained. If your number 2 is correct the Void pales in comparison to the Knull, he is the first life to exist in sheer darkness not just the fractions of darkness that exist in the soul. In comics the Apex can't exist in unopposable terms, never in one character. Trying to establish it as fact is the folly of the Blue Marvel.

I'm hoping they're just using Thunderbolts to set up for an actual Sentry film or something. It would be pretty clever for them to not reveal the film as a part of any "phase" and just spring it out of nowhere and act like it was announced a long time ago or something. Meh, they're probably just going to waste the character entirely, though. At least they picked a good actor, so maybe we can count on the aesthetic being faithful, if nothing else.

I nearly forgot about this comic, pun not intended. What I enjoyed the most was the flashbacks, the way it showed Sentry through the ages as he helped other heroes. How each hero forgot and remembered their idol/friend. The utter terror as the Void descends and they don't stand a chance. It's a bittersweet story in the end. Almost like Batman and Joker how two foes compliment each other. The tragedy that he cannot be the hero he wanted to be, and yet the greatest that never was.

The way that I have come to understand the sentry is that... The sentry is sort of the opposite of the gladiator. How the gladiator's power works off his confidence in himself. The sentry's power works off of how many people know of him and how many people believe how much power he has. So if even one person knows of the sentry and believes or is confident and believes in his ability to save the day, believes he's strong, fast,... the sentry can and will be that. He can even have the power of a billion exploding suns. Because people will know of him, remember him, and believe in him... even believe in his power. But because the sentry has an evil version and he is the void, as much power as the sentry has because of everyone's knowledge of him and belief in what he is capable of, now the void is also equally as powerful. So yes... all knowledge of the sentry had to be removed from everyone in existence so that the void could be destroyed. It's a pretty amazing way to kill an unbeatable sentry. That's how I understand the sentry even though it's not completely canonical. The problem though, is his current existence is an ever present threat that he will one day become as powerful as people believe he is and as powerful as he and his deeds becomes more and more well-known across the cosmos and the universe. I think the sentry could theoretically become more powerful than the Phoenix force or the one above all... if allowed to exist long enough and knowledge of him spreads far enough.

This would fit within the scope of the MCU when you think of it. The super soldier serum there is said to enhance what already exists which is how you got the Red Skull and the Abomination. The distinction is that with Robert Renolds it'd result in an enhancement of both sides of his personality. What I don't like here though is that its yet another character with alternate personas on top of Mark Spector, Bruce Banner and Jennifer Walters.
@siphosethumbaba7559 Жыл бұрын
Walters doesn't have another personality other than just her in her hulk form
@KryyssTV Жыл бұрын
@@siphosethumbaba7559 Actually the She-Hulk persona is just very similar to Jennifer's own personality but there is enough of a difference whereby she initially resented how She-Hulk's extrovert and impulsive nature created some embarrassing situations. Jennier herself is naturally introverted but as time moved on she learned to come out of her shell and by the end the two personalities were nearly indistinguishable. In recent years we've also seen a more aggressive side of She-Hulk manifest which is very different to Jennifer. The She-Hulk series on Disney Plus dId touch upon this to a degree but only so far as to present the division of psyche as Jennifer feeling like she's cheating and by presenting her as being capable of "Hulking out". Some may say that its not really a different persona, that its just that anybody would behave differently if they could turn into a super hero but the simple fact that Jennifer hasn't always felt fully in control while in She-Hulk form demonstrates that we're dealing with an ego vs id scenario. Afterall, Bruce's blood is a derivative of the super solider serum in some narratives which we know causes transformations based upon a person's psyche.
