It’s perfect because this is when Superman was treated more like a muscle head than the inspirational Man of Tomorrow. I hate this fight cause of how decent Wraith is portrayed, and he’s wasted because this isn’t the Superman who would have turned Wraith into an ally with his words, but the New 52 who punches first, mistook Batman for a Parademon and is almost a dick sometimes.

Supes may not be a master martial artist like Goku is to his credit, but Supes does have some martial arts skills thanks to Bats who knows 127 different martial arts forms he has studied from all over the world including pressure points among others. Supes also learned to fight from many members of the JLA, Wonder Woman-hand to hand combat, Black Cat-boxing, Martian Manhunter- help guard against mental attacks as well as his own Kryptonian Martial arts skills along with the Theta State. It is true that Supes has never trained all his life to become stronger like Goku has, but when push comes to shove, Supes does have the ability to be on par with Goku when pushed to his limits and shown to break those limits when needed. The only difference is, Superman has had several writers in the last 81 years, while Goku has had only one writer, Akira Toriyama.

Maybe it's because this is the new 52 and this supes is still not sure the extent of his powers or put it simply, he still didn't know that he can simply survive with solar energy alone or he did not yet know how to manipulate his energy to sustain himself. Even post-crisis supes could survive in space so it's no far fetch that n52 supes would learn that fact later on as he develops his powers. Wraith might even possibly be able to survive in space if we had more of him in comics. But doesn't matter in the end since n52 supes is dead

But if you set aside the vast difference in physical power, heat vision, artic breath, etc, Batman is better in hand to hand combat.
