I still think that maybe Julius Dithers should have an accounting firm instead of a construction contracting firm. Therefore, in the process of opening up a brand new branch office in the Texas town of Arlen, at the suggestion of his maternal nephew Chris Sizemore who just owns Sizemore Realty in Arlen; Chris’ father is the brother of Dithers’ wife Cora. Anyway, the idea of opening up a branch office in Arlen, Texas, has Julius Dithers happier than a lark. He figures that this way, he can easily rid himself of a thorn in his side, and the thorn in question is Dagwood Bumstead. Although, thrilled by the aspect of being in charge of a brand new branch office, complete with a raise in salary with the promotion, Dagwood finds that telling Blondie is easier said than done. Also, he selects Herb Winslow for his Assistant Manager under him, which means that Tootsie Winslow is finding this as much of a shock as Blondie herself. Dithers also pays for the round trip Amtrak tickets; he’s too cheap as well as scared to use Pan Am anymore since 9/11. Upon arrival in Arlen, the first thing that Dagwood notices is the old M-K-T (Missouri-Kansas-Texas aka The Katy) railroad depot. They’re greeted by part-time realtor Peggy Hill, working for Sizemore Realty. She shows them two houses on Rainey Street with the address numbers of 525 and 515. Blondie and Dagwood put a down payment on the house at 515 Rainey Street while Herb and Tootsie put a down payment on the house at 525 Rainey Street. Now, as they await the arrival of the Amtrak to take them home to see that their current houses are put up for sale, Peggy’s husband Hank Hill, a propane salesman and Assistant Manager at Strickland Propane gives a business card each to both Dagwood and Herb to get them recruited as new customers of Strickland Propane. After getting things settled back home, and their old houses up for sale, the Bumstead and Winslow families board another Amtrak bound for Texas. The two moving van type semi trucks arrive in Arlen about an hour after the big Amtrak train. The branch office is located in downtown Arlen, but only has a big first floor front window as a result of the renovation of the building in question. Renovations included the installation of a basement, in case of tornadoes, but they’re lucky enough to find their upstairs offices in the building have a view of the back alley. Eventually, Hank hosts a barbecue housewarming for Blondie, Dagwood, Herb, and Tootsie, welcoming them to both Rainey Street and Arlen.

The first episode I saw of this Dagwood left a horrible impression of being highly incompetent,but he’s actually not so bad he actually does love his wife ,he’s just ”Quirky” I guess I WOULD NOT SURVIVE THE 80s🫤

We need to get a Blondie and Dagwood Christmas Special aired on tv. Ofcourse, the Fox network would have to air it for starters. Secondly, for the main poultry dish, roast goose; turkey is far too overrated, and should only be saved for just Thanksgiving alone. Ofcourse, Blondie and Dagwood are now living in Arlen, Texas, at 515 Rainey Street just two doors up, and across the street from Texas propane salesman Hank Hill. Ofcourse, the main reason they’re now living in the Texas town of Arlen is because Mr. Dithers opened up a branch office there with Dagwood in charge as Supervising Manager and Herb Winslow as Assistant Manager. The Winslows now occupy the house at 525 Rainey Street just five doors down from Blondie and Dagwood. Also, since it’s their first Christmas in Texas, and the four bedroom, three bathroom ranch house, including the rumpus room in the basement, await the visitors for the holiday season. Alexander Bumstead and his wife Janien together with their twelve sons are arriving from the northwestern Baltimore suburb of Lawndale, Maryland, by Amtrak. Also, expected to arrive by Amtrak are Cookie with her husband Lars and their eight sons from Minnesota. This means twenty sleeping bags for the grandsons who’ll have to share the rumpus room under the circumstances.
