The world’s favorite comic strip couple trades places when Blondie gets a job after Dagwood Bumstead gets fired…again! Blondie solves the family’s financial problems in typical Blondie fashion. She gets a job in a local department store almost by accident. But that only leaves Dagwood alone to concoct his fantastic sandwiches and run the house completely on his own, creating comic complications galore!

For starters, I see the BLONDIE Christmas special, if one is ever to be produced, having taken place just about a year after both Alexander and Cookie have gotten families of their own started up. Alexander has a house that’s practically a carbon copy of the Lincoln residence in Springfield, Illinois. Cookie has obviously married a farmer of all people, and while Cookie has given them a grandson, Alexander is the father of twins (one of each gender), and the farm is five miles north of Alexander’s house. Ofcourse, why even bother with flying when Dagwood might as well raise a panic on the train instead? By the way, Cookie’s mother-in-law has taught her how to prepare the old European dish of roasted boar’s 🐗 head while Alexander’s wife is lucky enough to just follow the recipe for roast goose. Afterall, let Thanksgiving keep the turkey 🦃.

@McDuders, Just out of curiosity, suppose that Dithers decided to possibly open up a branch office of the company in the Texas town of Arlen wherein Dagwood and Blondie move into 515 South Rainey Street (since he decided to put Dagwood in charge of the new branch office and the kids are out on their own with Cookie running a veterinarian clinic on her in-laws’ farm in Minnesota while Alexander is operating an automotive repair shop in a northwestern Baltimore suburb known as Lawndale, Maryland), and across the street on the even numbered side at 520 South Rainey Street are Texas propane salesman Hank Hill and his wife Peggy who welcome the Bumstead family into the neighborhood?!

Think of it as one of the stepping stones of an animated theatrical movie version of “KING OF THE HILL” for theatre screens for the 2027 holiday season. The biggest dilemma so far has been the stubbornness of Mike Judge to temporarily postpone his revival of his series in order to make one theatrical movie that folks want to see. Anyway, Dithers decided to open up the branch office just to keep from having to look at Dagwood under the circumstances, and local level realtor Chris Sizemore of Sizemore Realty even get them a house on the odd numbered side of South Rainey Street in the 500 block at 515 South Rainey Street, which is at the corner of Sanders Boulevard and Rainey Street. Besides, with the passing of the late voice actor Johnny Hardwick aka Dale Gribble, the house at 522 South Rainey Street will have as its new occupants, Orville Snorkel aka Sarge (from the Beetle Bailey comics) with his dog Otto, Orville’s bride who divorced her ex named Irving; in other words, I’m in reference to Cathy Andrews from the Sunday newspaper comics lineup titled “CATHY”. Aside from which, a grownup Charlie Brown will eventually move into the house at 517 South Rainey Street with both his Texas A&M Masters Degree in Business Administration as well as a Class A CDL (commercial drivers license) and a 1975 Mack Cruiseliner cabover, let alone that Snoopy sets up his dog house in the backyard at 517 to be near the swimming pool while Woodstock has set up a slightly modernized birdhouse on a tall pole in the backyard giving a view of the swimming pool as well as the alleyway between Rainey Street and Apple Blossom Lane. Meanwhile, try imagining how it would look if Hank Hill was in a verbal confrontation with Maude Findlay from the classic 1972-78 CBS sitcom series of “MAUDE”?

Besides, the Bumstead family originally lived in New Rochelle, but after Cookie graduated veterinarian school and married a farmer in Minnesota while Alexander married a business administration major, and they settled down in the northwestern Baltimore suburb of Lawndale, Maryland, and then Julius Dithers got an offer he couldn’t refuse; his nephew Chris Sizemore (from Cora’s side of the family) got him involved in a land deal in the Texas town of Arlen where they were to build a branch office for the construction company as well as building a new gated community called Siesta Villa. Naturally, needing to get Dagwood away from his sight, he puts Dagwood in charge of the new branch office in Arlen, Texas, as well as building both the new branch office and the gated community of Siesta Villa.

Originally telecast on CBS on May 15, 1987. As for Blondie becoming a working woman, Dean Young (who writes the newspaper strip) eventually decided she should be more than a housewife......and in September 1991, she opened her own catering business {with Tootsie Woodley as her partner}. She's still in business, with Dagwood occaionally helping out.

CBS also had the short-lived 1968 sitcom version, which had a redheaded Patricia Harty got cast as Blondie opposite Will Hutchins as Dagwood and the late Jim Backus as Mr. Dithers.

Figured this would be fun but it turned out to be amazingly good. The artwork is perfect, every character (especially Daisy) just as Chic Young drew them. Love the dialogue too. Fun fact: Blondie's maiden name is Boopadoop. When they met in 1930 Dagwood was a rich playboy and Blondie was a flapper. I think his dad cut him off when he married a common girl, but that's all before my time and I'm not sure.

Pondering on just which employee he thinks needs to get out of his sight, Dithers appoints Dagwood to take charge of the branch office, which means moving from New Rochelle to Arlen, Texas? Blondie’s excited about Dagwood being put in charge of a new branch office, but upon learning that the new branch office will be in Arlen, Texas, begins to revive memories for Blondie from when she worked the lobby of Hotel Arlen, but not as a maid, but rather as a lady of shady and questionable intentions?

I don't think he had to make his own money till his marriage to Blondie estranged his wealthy parents. I gather you're a fellow Texan. I further take it there's a scandal in Arlen's history that I'm not familiar with, apparently a really juicy one involving oil tycoons. Sounds like classic Texas skullduggery and I'm gonna study up on that!

Actually, I’m a Kentuckian with a good knowledge of Texas under the circumstances. However, keep in mind that Chris Sizemore of Sizemore Realty of Arlen is Dithers’ nephew on Cora’s side of the family. Plus, Hiram Lodge from Riverdale is the one behind the building of the gated community to be christened Siesta Villa, which Dithers is building in Arlen will probably be housing for some of the oilfield workers employed by Minnesota businessman Gomez Addams as well as for the refinery that Hiram Lodge plans to put in Arlen. Also, Dithers is possibly planning on a branch office in Arlen, which eventually Dagwood ends up being in charge of (until the day he gets his gold watch) which then has him and Blondie settling into the house at 515 South Rainey Street at the corner of Sepulveda and Rainey; other houses on that corner include 516, 517, and 518. Ofcourse, it would probably be most likely that when Dagwood is put in charge of the Branch office in Arlen, that Alexander runs a garage in the northwestern Baltimore suburb of Lawndale, Maryland, repairing everything from regular automobiles to diesel powered semi trucks while Cookie is running her own veterinarian clinic on her in-laws dairy farm in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, just west northwest of Duluth; Grand Rapids that’s west northwest of Duluth is also the hometown of Gomez Addams.

I REALLY dislike Dagwood. Like, a LOT. I know that this is supposed to be a sort of parady comedy and all, but it bugged me how he wasn't at home when the repair men came over. That one scene around 6:28 where the repairman started getting fresh with Blondie (and then his cronies even SURROUNDED her in a predatory manner at 6:32) was straight up ALARMING. She even has to start PUSHING THEM AWAY after they invaded her personal space! 🤦🏿 Whenever we have to get work done on _our_ house (If my husband can't fix it himself) he will take time off of work to make sure that he's home when the repairman show up, so that I'm not home alone with strange men. (I work from home). I thought that ALL men did this for their wives in order to protect them, but Dagwood is just too clueless and too selfish to even notice his wife getting harassed. ☹️
