In 1980s, in India there wasn't a team of these super heroes. Phantom was a separate comic , and mandrake hojo and lothar was different comic. No flash gorden etc were ever released.

I remember watching this as an 11 year old back in 1985 on our one and only TV Station on the island of Trinidad. Back then, DOE was part of an all star Saturday morning cartoon block that ran from 8-11am. Those were the good old days that had children's shows that were far better than the junk of today that is playing a key part in corrupting young minds.

Before the time that AKOM took over animation duties. They were foisted on Transforners at first, with GI Joe and everything else spared. AKOM is considered pretty decent animating Simpsons.

To my knowledge this show was never seen here in Finland, which is odd since all these characters, Flash Gordon, Mandrake, Lothar and especially The Phantom have always been very well known here, and we would had loved to see this show back in the day. The toys based on this show were released here though and me and my brothers had almost all of them. It is great to see this show here now, and with it's style and characters still fills me with nostalgia!

I agree that it's odd. These characters are popular in Sweden as well and, though I'm not sure if this show was broadcast on any TV channel, the episodes were collected on rental VHS cassettes. It seems strange that noone took the opportunity to do the same in Finland.

Wow, I remember when this cartoon first aired, I never missed an episode, and like all good things it didn't run for very long, but introducing these classic characters the way it was done, not something seen very much, but it shows when it is done right. I'd love to see a new series , with tis style of animation or at least a style similar, it might go over pretty well. Thanks for posting these awesome cartoons, the 80's had a lot of cartoon jems for everyone to enjoy.

I remember a movie where Billy Zane played the Phantom. There was this scene where the phantom is firing two pistols at once and crosses his arms while firing. That stuck with me visually.

That movie was ahead of its time. It was too soon for audiences to be open to the idea of superhero movies like The Phantom and The Shadow. Same thing happened in Hong Kong with Black Mask (the Jet Li movie).

This is a good way to re- introduce and update The Phantom in a new movie version - this would be similar to Guardians of the Galaxy.....and have lots of funny moments..............would love to see Mandrake - Flash Gordon - Lothar and Company all get a revamp as well and breathe new life into a wonderful cartoon from back in the days.......🔥❤️
