Well, to be fair, Catwoman has historically been Batman's most famous, most enduring, and most significant love interest in the mythos. Talia's basic premise of being an anti-hero whose on the wrong side but allows herself to help Batman is just a copy of Catwoman's, who has been around since the beginning and has been in practically every incarnation. She did marry Bruce/Batman in the AU of Earth Two, and was the mother of Helena/Huntress there -- Bruce's only daughter. Catwoman's 80th Anniversary imagines a more modern future where Catwoman becomes pregnant with his child. On TV, The Brave & The Bold even had Alfred imagining a future where Damien was Catwoman's son and she and Batman experienced a true happily ever after (or as close to it as possible in the DC Universe). Fans can make their case for whichever woman they support and 'ship Batman with, but -- if we're reading comics -- it is still tipped in Catwoman's favor when taken in full context. Retcon or no retcon. No matter what lovers come between their cat and mouse games, the Bat and the Cat always gravitate right back towards each other time and time again. Their flirtations have been pretty mutual too, with the Bat giving as good as he gets.

Did you also know that Bruce was the one who actually stalked Talia in a very intrusive way? Down to stalking her to the bathroom? Also the "Drugged" was actually a retcon done for the BatCat thing... Catwoman isn't a good pair for Bruce, and Talia was treated like a villainess for no reason, other than executives hating her, similar to Joe Q's hate for Mary Jane.

Must be a different Mary Jane. Gwen was so unbelievably unpopular that even Stan Lee hated her. It was only a matter of time before Gwen the bitch got tossed away as a casualty. Sins Past was actually in character for her. And only someone who never read the books would say that MJ was forced. In fact, she was the main reason people actually read the books. Black Cat was then redeemed again, and eventually became BFFs with MJ, after Flash Thompson helped fully redeem her, only for Strac-whatever to turn Felicia into the "sexy bad girl" again, into a boring stereotype. Mary Jane was introduced far before Felicia as a love interest. People liked MJ because she had charisma and gravitas, that she actually helped Peter evolve. People were reading Spider-Man for her, similar to how people were watching Power Rangers for Tommy Oliver. I do agree with you that Bruce loved Talia, and that Talia has had it worse from editorial than many other characters.

I think Talia was serious against Batman but held back against Catwoman. It's the only way to explan her loss to the latter and also why she said, "I like her" to Bruce afterwards - Talia was shit testing Selina. Bruce seemed off in this story. Stumbling over his words and quipping with people is something you'd used see Spiderman do.

Nah you gotta understand that Talia did win the fight, the first round in a sense, but Selina pulled a "Bat Trick" by grabbing the blade and taking the pain to get that critical hit. If Talia was trying to actual kill Selina, she would have ended up like Jeezabel Jet....Lol. Talia was testing Selina's mentle, thats why she said she like her at the end.

Obviously Talia would beat Catwoman 9 times out of 10, but that doesn't take away from her victory here. The whole fight you can hear Talia blatantly say "I think you are beneath me," so she is underestimating Catwoman and her resolve to win. Then Talia has the fight 99% won at 10:30 in the video all she had to was stab Catwoman, but instead she taunts her. Then Catwoman does somthing a little crazy, something I wouldn't expect someone to do if I thought they were weak, SHE GRABS THE FREAKING SWORD WITH HER BARE HANDS and now that Talia can't stab her and is caught off guard Catwoman gets a good kick in and it knocks Talia down. Then Catwoman immediately stabs Talia in the back while she is still dazed. I don't think Tom King's implication here was to say Catwoman > Talia in a sword fight everytime, hell no, he even wrote in Catwoman saying "I've picked [a sword] up maybe once or twice in my life," the implication here was Catwoman CAN hold her own with the best of them because she is a quick thinker and can fight. This was a great story!

C3Squared Agree!! So many people underestimated Selina, even me. But she always surprises everyone with an incredible strength, skill, and will of her own that matches even the most formidable people ever. Talia was trained since the day she was born, but her arrogance and refusal to understand people of lower status has always been her downfall. She expects Selina is unworthy of Bruce and wants her to come to heel, but she was dead wrong. I absolutely enjoyed the story arc!!

C3Squared no, I think catwomam has more fighting skills. Yes talia was trained by assassins.but Selina spends nights in Gotham fighting criminals and the law while jumping off roofs. Selina does these things daily. It always seems with talia though, is just sitting there doing nothing most of the time.

in regards to the outcome of the fight, talia did best selina initially, but that that lingering over her and letting her take the sword was just arrogance and the writers symbolizing how Talia may win the battle but overall Selina won the war.

I'm just loving two things. 1. 9:00 how Catwoman see all he's flaws and still willing to love him anyway, knowing batman one rule will always come first. 2. 9:55 How Dick knows how selfless batman is...how he will always put others before himself and how it pains him to ask anyone for help....this is one of those rare moments when he doing something just for himself I love batman he will always be my favorite DC Hero and this gonna be one of my favorite moments because they see flaws in him but are going to stand by he's side no matter what they greatly love this man deeply😢😢😭😭

this is my favorite Comicstorian video to date, everything about it is on point. Benny's voice overs have become astounding and his editing team is excellent. Now lets get to the comic itself. I have always imagined in my mind that Bat and Cat were the only 2 for each other and this comic has been hammering that point home from the start. Grayson's idea about why Bruce did not tell them about the engagement is amazing. I never really thought about the bat that way, but once i heard i was like oh duh haha

This comic is perhaps one of the most legit and best portrayals as to why Catwoman will always be superior to Talia as Batman's love interest. Talia puts Bruce on a pedestal, seeming him as the best and most worthy of her while Selina sees and understands the real Bruce behind all the glamor and loves him regardless. As for why Catwoman beat Talia here, it was a psychological and battle of wills just as much as a physical one. Catwoman had her beat in that regard, and that reflected and affected their combat.

Dick roasting Damian was the best part. Also for Talia vs Catwoman: I don't believe she was actually trying. She dragged the fight out for hours when she is an assassin: someone who specializes in quick and efficient killing. Add in the fact that Bruce, someone we have seen fight with every bone in his body broken, just sat there and let it happen. No Talia wasn't fighting Cat, she was testing her.

Idk about you, but I'm absolutely loving these stories. Talia was obviously just testing Selina, and Selina delivered. Selina is so mature and I love Bruce's behaviour towards her. Shows how vunerable he is for love. The Jokes vs Riddles was great too(Hell Yeah!). I just hope they stay together and become a permanent thing like Clark/Lois or Wally/Linda(I feel sad for wally rn) or Barry/Iris. He deserves to be happy for once. And finally, the art is so great.

If it makes you feel any better you can imagine that talia held back a bit on catwomen because as we saw at the end she said she actually likes catwomen a bit so even tho she was talking all that big stuff about killing catwomen it was all for show. Because at the end of the day she didnt really wany to kill catwomen by the looks of it. But if this wad a serious life or death situation she would have won. Man I loved the wedding build up, I mean it was so well done. And yes the seeds for how issue 50 play out were planted, but I really wanted to see DC pull the trigger on it. It was somewhere new they could take the character, and I've always seen Batman and Catwoman belonging together. I hope by the end of King's 100 issue arc that they do end up together, but that's kinda asking a lot given he'd presumably be leaving after and forcing the next writer to take to take up a massively different status quo. It just dawned on me that superhero books are basically soap operas with capes. And doing a prolonged wedding build up hammers that point home

Here is the difference between the Cat and Talia, Selina has a possibility of doing someone wrong until she is emotionally attached but Talia is just being a bad bitch whether she is attached or not. Daddy's girl.. That's why she can never be a good fit for Bruce. Even if Sel has flaws, she is sincere about her feelings for Bruce but you'll never understand if Talia really loves him. A part of her will be always under her father's control.

People are saying Talia testing Selina, but I don’t think so. Since Talia considers herself equal to Batman, she would go all out to prove that. She would crush Selina. But the point is she can’t. People tend to underestimate Selina because she’s a bugler while Talia trained years in the League of Assassins. But Selina was trained by Richard Dragon himself for a few years. So comparing Selina’s martial arts skills to Talia’s is like comparing Batman’s martial arts skills to Ra’s. The important things about martial arts, in my opinion, are not how many years you train but your initial talent and who you train with. That being said, it’s true that I like Catwoman, and I got zero experience on martial arts. And I think my point would be more accurate if we only discuss about unarmed fights. But it’s a sword fight. So Talia should have had the advantage over Selina. But well, the writer did make it right with the fight’s ending with Selina’s loosing and then giving a surprise kick. That made Selina’s winning reasonable without her being too overpowered.

I felt that talia did hold back but for alot of reasons mainly these 2. She wanted to see if selena was worthy enough to stand at bruces side. Do things batman would never do. And also because she knows how much it took for bruce BRUCE of all people to brinf his new love to his ex to ask for a woman to be given to them so bruce and selena can be happy together and talia is like "f*ck it hes been through enough" i really like the idea of the cat and bat being together

This is not the first time Talia and Catwoman faced off. In Batman: Hush these two women had a similar scuffle that ended in what could be considered a draw. Also, people seem to forget two things, one that Catwoman isn't an average thief, but had been trained by higher martial arts and two is that the argument about Catwoman and Talia here is no different than Ra's and Batman's experiences. Because the former had hundreds of years of leadership and fighting skills under his belt, yet always lose to a boi who's learned some tricks just to fight crimes for his dead parents jk. And even though I'd put odds that Talia would win more often, I'm pretty sure it's never wrong if the writers let Catwoman claim the victory.

Honestly I think Catwoman would only beat her if she was wearing her suit and if they were on top of buildings. So i agree with you. It should been Talia win. I think it all depends under circumstances but it's hard to gauge their strengths. She had the advantage of environment. I still hate how Batman is weak in this universe.
