You forgot to mention the fact that Mark Bagley is one hell of a workhorse! The guy never missed a deadline in his entire career and that's why Marvel editors *love* him. That certainly made him stand out specially at a time when some of the "super stars" typically delivered 04 to 06 issues per year at best.

In terms of Bagley's place in history, I think he's similar to Jim Aparo or Joe Staton. They are not the kind of spectacular artists who ever became the "hot" artist of the day, but they were solid draftsmen who enjoyed extended periods of major sales success and quietly turned out iconic versions of many classic characters. I'd much rather have a guy like one of them on a book for years than a flash-in-the-pan who's hot today, but who is out of the business in just a few years.

It's the old "Artist for kids" & "Artists for grown-ups" differentiation, I think. Kids are easy to impress with detailed, action-pumped drawings. Kids don't look at the story-telling skills like a grown-up would. I was fire for Todd McFarlane & Greg Capullo as a kid and I am now a total sucker for Mignola's art (which I hated when I was a kid). Mark Bagley however was alway inbetween for me. I liked his style as kid (not as much as Todd of course) and I like his style now. He has definetly better story telling skills as McFarlane imho but also not that detailed drawing style. I think you really begin to admire him when you're older and you start looking at his sweeping lines & simplifications that please the eye.

Never was a big fan of Bagley but given all of the big name artists who've missed deadlines more often than not over the years, I can definitely respect his discipline and work ethic. Nearly all of my favorite artists can/could do no more than a few consecutive books before tapping out.

Ultimate Spider-Man is one of my favorite comic book series. It was my childhood and brings a lot of nostalgia for me.

Bagley back in the day was a real workhorse. An artist who didn't wow you with style, but who did his job in telling stories better than some of the more popular artists out there. I think the Larsen comparisons by some only work in the sense that they favored leaner forms and expressive faces, but otherwise, they were pretty distinct. Love this channel. One of the best out there.

I started to read comics in the 2003, so for me the definitive artists of spider-man are John Romita jr.and Mark Bagley. I enjoyed a lot his most recent work in spider-man a life story.

Great, as always. I'd love to see you talking eventually about old school guys like Mike Zeck or Paul Gulacy, whose work kind of reminds me of Bagley's.

Love Mark Bagley. I wasn’t aware of his early work from the 80’s. Now I have to check that out. Thanks.

Love the design of the Ultimate universe Venom, it's tad bit more grounded yet still very pleasing to look at. The idea of a goopy mess trying to keep a relatively human form is very fun to imagine too

I collected Spider-Man during the Silver & Bronze era, so my taste is different from Fans of the 1990's. The title to the video is open to interpretation, depending on the Generation/Age of the Fan. Each artist has his/her own style & Fans. Bagley was "Good," but again it's my opinion. Subbed. Keep up the great content!

Loved bagleys style for Spider-Man and venom, his city scapes, panels, action and anatomy was top notch. I think his only weakness was his faces. Many of them were very similar and sometimes wonky
