I really liked how on your original cut of this, it felt like the rocket launch was an ICBM. I haven't seen the film, but watching that clip and seeing the fighter pilots' expressions brought a tear to my eye

Awesome dude. Thanks. Now i really want to see that movie :)
the movie is very meh but the setting and world building is fantastic and the last 10 minutes are great. i would love it if they made a sequel or just a movie set in the same world.

This is true. The plot and even the characters didn't bother me. Only all this alternative technology shown, which really looked as if mankind had taken a different path in the development of science.

Your brain is very meh. It's one of the greatest animation works and films of all time.
@AlanGChenery Жыл бұрын
When I saw it as a kid I would have agreed with you. But over time I came to appreciate the depth more and more. Ghost in the Shell and Patlabour1&2 are similar masterpieces with their political messages and discussions of phillosphy woven into astounding world building and breath taking visuals. But they get more attention because Mechs and each being part of a very popular sub-genre, while this film really doesn't neatly fit in anywhere. "Cyberpunk" or "mech anime" is just a more appetising delivery method for the drama, political theory, and thoughtful musings than alternative world retro-cold war space race. Frankly I think all four should be considered on the same level. (Along with some other classics like Akira)
@TrueNeutralEvGenius Жыл бұрын
@@AlanGChenery That is never true, when people say that "as a kid, I didn't appceaiate, but now as adult..." stuff. Intelligence do not rise with years. In fact it falls. No matter the age, you appreciate and understand or not. Knowledge is secondary. They are not on the same level. Jin Roh, Royal Space Force, Akira and Ghost on the Shell are on peak level, definately, all time greatest works of animation, still unparalleled, the depth and with plot and story too, writing, etc., but all other full anime movies are far lower tier.

@@TrueNeutralEvGenius not necessarily intelligence falls, we just begin to think in a different way than we did when we were younger.
