coming out as non-binary/trans - with reactions

So, the whole premise of this video is pretty simple; I'm finally coming out to all my friends and family, by officially announcing it in a post on Facebook. Ever since primary school/middle school I've felt like something was wrong with me, like no matter how hard I tried I just didn't fit in. I first came out as something else after middle school, but then slowly- after reaching adulthood, I realised that I was in fact questioning my gender, and had been doing so for a really really long time. I've never really been able to dress how I want, or like the things that I want- and I reached a point last year were I just couldn't pretend anymore. I knew who people wanted me to be, and that just wasn't me. I cringed every time my colleagues, friends or parents would call me by my deadname, and I just desperately needed to get away. So, I've finally moved away to uni, and I came out the same day- right before I got on the plane. In this video, you can follow me on my journey from a few days prior, and watch as I react to the comments and messages I got from people afterwards.

I feel like I can’t except myself because of the transphobia I was raised with I’m not transphobic to anyone but myself because of my family and it is really hard to feel at peace with myself or dress how I want or wear makeup anymore. I really want to come out to my mom but I’m scared I don’t really know how to do it or if she’s gonna “believe” me or not. Cause I feel like she’s just gonna think it’s a phase but like if I think back on when I was little I literally refused to b called “girly” (birth gender ...) but I never thought about it much back then, I’ve been thinking about it a lot now and I don’t identify as a girl I don’t think I really did either but anyways- does anyone have any tips? I haven't come out yet either so I don't know how useful this is going to be but I think talking about being trans or non binary with her (just generally without specifically talking about you) to see what she says out of context first would be good. If she's fine or at least accepting it's not a phase, just tell her and talk about it. If not, it might be better to wait a bit and just gradually get her more information (talking to her about studies, maybe saying you have a friend that came out ?) until you reach a point where you can come out to her ? But if you really want to and feel ready to come out to her, you can just do it :)

@@theoboulanger6125 oh hey:) thanks for the reply, I actually did come out as non-binary but she didn’t get the pronouns thing and I was too nervous to correct her. So I’ve actually come to the conclusion I’m trans ftm I have not come out though. I know my mom is very accepting I’ll just have to teach her. This makes me more nervous than anything though since I feel like this is bigger deal for me than coming out as non-binary. My dysphoria is really bad but I’ve decided that I’m gonna wait for a little while until I become more comfortable with my identity. I really liked your advice and I’m definitely gonna start hinting at her so it’s not gonna be the worlds biggest shock when she learns this. I hope it’ll go well for you too!
