I was a trucker when I was young. I became a police officer. Like alot of other guys who gave up diesels for something else, I wished I had never left trucking. Some of my happyist times were sailing with 13 gears, 400 horses and 18 wheels. My wife haited diesels too.

My ma was a driver's daughter. By the time I had my licence she was sick and wheelchair bound. She passed while I was over the road and what I wouldn't give to give her a ride in my Ken. I gave up driving after that and I also found out when I met the family at a truck stop and got dinner she cried like you wouldn't believe. She said that truck sounds like my grandpa's going into the distance. When she passed I couldn't drive a truck again. I'm 6'2 and 275 and write with a tear. RIP MOM you were the best. I'm sorry I couldn't give you that last ride.

Funny thing. I've been retired for over two years ago and off the road from driving. Today I saw my old love-- My Kenworth. it was driven by another, Younger driver,. I didn't think such a situation would hurt me so much when it happened, but it did. Once an Old Trucker, Always an Old Trucker!!! I Miss the road, just like this song tells, and I doubt the feeling will ever leave me till the day I die. To those of you who listen to this song that never got bit by the bug to become a truck driver, you will never understand why this song is so meaningful to us. You are blessed to be grounded with your families, because we give all that up for the love of the Road.

Fuck Yeah!!! Loved driving trucks!! Drove my first when my dad turned me loose on a two stick transmission Kenworth when I was only 13!!! I was hooked at that point, but I resisted the road until much later on when Roadranger Transmissions were pretty much the standard .

I used to drive long haul, gave it up for college and a desk job, but miss it every time I hear one of these old time trucker songs. I miss channel 10 on the now defunct XM radio.. the Sirius replacement doesn't hold a candle to the old station..

B"H, Lyrics Farrell Remember hearing those semis gearing down, For me and Mumma, we lived right on the high grade into town, And I sure loved those white freighter lights, but there was something in my Mumma's eyes, When she'd catch me looking at them, why a little bit of her died. Mumma hated diesels so bad, I guess I knew it had something to do with Dad, The first time I saw her cry, was when one of those things went by, Mumma hated diesels so bad. Now the years rolled along, they weren't kind to my poor Mum, I didn't spend much time at home, I was busy having fun, Then one day the county sherrif came and told me they had found, A body by the side of the road, she'd been flagging diesels down. Now it's just d the local preacher, standing in the grave yard grass, He said he found this stuck in my s hand, it was a faded photograph, I looked down at the picture, it was my Mumma and some guy, Standing in front of a semi truck, "Just Married" written on the side. @biggestkrisfan ... Too bad you're married ... we could take the little one and travel the "blue" highways of my country ... but ... being the old fart that I am ... we better do it fast ... I don't think ... at least I hope I won't be around too much longer ... if I hit 65 and I'm still here ... man ... am I gonna' be pissed off ... I've earned a rest ...
