@@the_lost_navigator Yes, he was an essential part of the musical soundscape during my formative years growing up in central Ohio. It's unfortunate that most people only know of one song by his band, but at least it's a starting place for anyone that's interested. I'm 9 days away from my 63rd birthday, so I heard his music on the radio when it was first released, and I've listened to it ever since.

My Dad drove truck during the 60's and 70's. This song pretty much tells it like it was. Thankfully I got to go along for a few trips. I think he did it to teach me not to follow in his footsteps, but after being an abject failure at "more rspectable professions", I became a Truck driver, and though now retired, I never look back at it as a negative decision. Nothing wrong with being a truck driver!!!

Del Reeves version is the best. Hard to believe that truckers used to wear cowboy hats/ boots,drove 18 speeds,and weren't 400 pound lardasses like nowadays. I miss the 70's/80's and echo cb mikes.

10-4 from Model T on an chrome covered fully illuminated Cobra CB. I mostly wore Wellingtons and wore a ball cap. Course I was never really a trucker. Only drove from '69 thru 1994. I wear tankie tops and flip flops now that I'm retired. Love Del Reeves, Red Sovine, CW McCall, Jerry Reed, and many more.
