Ehhh I disagree. Palpatine was about experienced as they come. Going threw thousands of years worth of holocrons and other Sith and Jedi artifacts. Not to mention he and plagus studied philosophy, statesman ship science, warfare and countless others. Too say Palpatine had less experience then pretty much any mortal in the galaxy simply is false. Even Yoda probably knew less. Tho Yoda most likely knew more about the Jedi his overall knowledge on topics would most likely pale in comparison too Palpatine. This isn’t to say either one was better just Palpatine probably knew more despite being younger.

Nick Wilson If he was promoted to Jedi Master, he wouldn’t have turned to the dark side. The reason he turned as easily as he did was because he already had trust issues with the council. Had they made him a Jedi Master, those trust issues wouldn’t been replaced with a lot more trust on Anakins end. But instead, they were made worse with being denied the rank of master, further solidifying in Anakins mind that the Jedi Council didn’t trust him, as he didn’t trust them.

I think the clone ranks aren’t as accurate as real life. I think Rex commanded the 501st but the personal company he ran with was torrent. In one episode Rex orders different 501st battalions to get into AT-TEs. Although Rex had the duties and command of a commander he just wasn’t promoted.

Yeah, you actually COULD say that he was a commander, the actual explanation was that he only wasn't given the official promotion because it was going to be given to him, but as a commander he would have to be in the back lines to oversee the battles, but he wanted to be in the front with his men so he stayed a captain

No no no! That makes no sense at all! Every legion (legion! Not battalion, regiment or corps) Has a senior commander. Their were regimental commanders who led them, and under those were battalion commanders. Rex was only a captain and Jedi Liason. He only became a Battalion Commander. He was just Jedi Liason. Most Liasons are commanders, but if a Jedi wanted too, they could pick a Trooper as a liason and make them out rank everyone. Rex only became a battalion commander when he led the 322nd Battalion.

Big Mike The only way I see it happening is either during the opening intro for the next few episodes it gives us glimpses at the battle and Grievous with some cool shots of him slaying Jedi left and right or we see him in the continuation of the Clone Wars as confirmed by Clone Wars producers. Apparently they are getting very good repetition on the new season so they are deciding on added more episodes kind of the like the lost missions.

Yes, I had a theory for this before the latest episode. My theory is that Rex was a senior commander the entire time, BUT he gained his fame and popularity when he was a captain. No kidding. I actually choked up a bit when that door opened and they had all painted their helmets. Nice touch. Not sure why when they get to Mandalor Rex is wearing his usual blue and white again though, when the rest went with the painted Ahsoka helmets. My only guess is that they did it purely so you can identify him in the action sequences.

Anakin could have been the original commander of the 501st as a padawan until he was knighted making him a general. This leaves the commander rank vacant until Ashoka was assigned as Anakin’s padawan making her the commander. I believe Rex was always the highest ranking clone in the 501st until he was assigned to Commander of the 332nd.

The timeline of events in ROTS is roughly 9 months. Check the progression of Padme's pregnancy. She shows no signs after the battle of Coruscant but she tells Anakin that she is pregnant. By the end of the film on with her meeting with Vader on Mustafar she is clearly several months into the pregnancy. With that in mind, the seige of Mandalore lasted somewhere within the last 9 months of the clone wars along with the rest of the outer rim seiges in places like Felucia and Mygeeto.

Though Vaughn didn't get get much screentime, I'm so thankful for the massive gap in the lore his existence finally fills in the Clone organizational structure. It always irked me more than it should've that as far as we knew there was there was no subdivisions of the clone unit, so it's dope that we now have captains to command smaller elements of a legion.

If appo was promoted, at most it would of been to captain. But he wouldn't have to wait long. According to the comics he was promoted shortly the rise of the empire. Don't read on of you don't want potential spoilers. He got the promotion after Rex's assumed death.

They are classified as a LEGION. In canon and legends. A legion contanta around 9k ish clones including support personnel. They are not handpicked, they are just any other clone unit who happens to have some of the highest casualties of the war. A clone unit doesn't, "hand pick" every single clone. It would be a waste of time and effort. Clones would get automatically assigned after their birth or after completeing their training. Sure we saw Echo and Fives, but that was bcause they lost their entire squad and that squad may have probably already been in the 501st, and Rex's, "Welcome to the 501st" speech wpuld probably mean. "You are now like one of us" kinda metaphor

The original lore for the 501st Legion was that they were comprised of some of the best troopers who fought during the First Battle of Geonosis, and that Supreme Chancellor Palpatine had them sent to Coruscant for specialised training. That is partially what makes the 501st legion stand out considerably from other Grand Army units.

Ashoka was the commander of the 501st. Anakin didn't want to replace Ashoka when she left so rex was never promoted.

But there is a commander in the 501st, its ahsoka, since she isn‘t a knight up to this point and ranked „commander“. As I see it, the moment Ahsoka got back she got the de facto position as a general since she got her knight status so the position of commander is free for rex, who gets promoted that way

The reason rex was captain was because of ashoka tano, ashoka was commander so rex was captain. When ashoka left he became commander.

I’ve always wondered how they replenish troops despite the casualties they have during battles. I think the 501st legion is more of a division instead of a brigade since a division can have like 6,000 to 20,000 men

My theory is Maul torturing Jesse with the force, thus finding out about order 66. Informing Tano about this and Palpatine and making some sort of deal or unease in Tano. You can see some1 inside a carbon prison in the trailer with a shock guarding it, that may be Maul being transported to the Venator where he will be released during the order 66 time so they can escape.

Now I’m not saying I think this will happen but since everything from the trailer was in this first episode (except Maul vs Ahsoka) I think it would be pretty cool if they fought in the second, which they likely will, and then left the third and fourth episodes for Revenge of the Sith tie ins. I mean Grievous got a whole redesign I can’t see that being used for that single 2 second shot only. We’ll see but all I know is I’m hype af.

I feel like Vaughan's death scene would've been more impactful if it was someone we know, like Jesse or Hardcase. (Did hardcase die on umbara? I don't remember if that was him.)

I know why it seems a little bit off while watching the episode. The main characters talked with their hand gesture too much. The music and the tone of the characters make us feel like we cannot feel any serious situation going on. The screenwriting treats the long-fan audience that we just watched these characters for the first time. They needed to spell everything out. There are jokes from Rebels, but not regularly used in the Clone Wars. It was out-of-character for Anakin to let the Clone did their job because he would still lead the charge, not joking with Obi-Wan. Ahsoka is very cold and calm (Way too calm). She has no respect for Anakin anymore judging by her behavior. She cut Anakin off. He didn't feel like Anakin from Episode III, and this is 2 hours before Episode III. I also didn't feel the impact of this is a goodbye for all of them. Obi-Wan didn't behave remorseful to Ashoka, which was weird.
