Gotta love that "ohhhh" when you got Jeska, Thrice Reborn. Like you forgot it was in the deck. What a delightful surprise.

Actually mom wouldn't have protected against the whiptongue since it doesn't target, just fyi.

Ann yes I think I confused it with tornado elemental… thought it was a damage ability.

Any way we can get that Gargos list? Looked kinda cool
@chimneyimp14863 жыл бұрын
angelic removal does unfortunately not work like this because of its "if you do" clause it gets only one creature back. Promise of Tomorrow is something which works kinda close to this
@NMS1273 жыл бұрын
"If you do" means "If you choose to sacrifice Angelic Renewal". It doesn't change the way it interacts with merged permanents. So it will return them all (as separate creatures). 723.3c. If an effect can find the new object that a merged permanent becomes as it leaves the battlefield, it finds all of those objects. (See rule 400.7.) If that effect causes actions to be taken upon those objects, the same actions are taken upon each of them. Edit: OK, I see why you think it wouldn't work. If multiple creatures die at the same time, you get multiple triggers and you can only sacrifice Angelic Renewal to one trigger. But in this case I think it still works because it's a leaves the battlefield trigger, so it only sees a single creature die and triggers once. 603.10. Normally, objects that exist immediately after an event are checked to see if the event matched any trigger conditions, and continuous effects that exist at that time are used to determine what the trigger conditions are and what the objects involved in the event look like. However, some triggered abilities are exceptions to this rule; the game "looks back in time" to determine if those abilities trigger, using the existence of those abilities and the appearance of objects immediately prior to the event. The list of exceptions is as follows: 603.10a. Some zone-change triggers look back in time. These are leaves-the-battlefield abilities, abilities that trigger when a card leaves a graveyard, and abilities that trigger when an object that all players can see is put into a hand or library.

I think I would've given the Demon pro green and given up on the the mom. Glad it worked out regardless. GG

Yeah someone else mentioned that one too. Tough call right there.

Thank you! Commanders like Toshiro Umezawa 30+ removal spells or Balan 18+ board wipes (both decks I've played against) are just miserable.

I would like to mention that, in addition to Ambition's Cost and Ancient Craving, there is Promise of Power. Although worse in most instances (5 mana versus 4, or 3 with Read the Bones), it's much more efficient draw. Furthermore, late game it can make a decent sized flyer.
@CommanderReplay3 жыл бұрын
I do like promise of power, but probably wouldnt run it above 2 colors. If you have some life gain greed is a card i probably need to run more.

Curious on your thoughts of Syphon Mind vs Ambitions Cost, personally I prefer Syphon Mind as putting each opponent down a card is a lot better than losing 3 life, but I understand that when you are down to a 1v1 Syphon Mind is not very good. Also Painful Truths is great in 3+ color decks.
@CommanderReplay3 жыл бұрын
Honestly they all live in a very similar space, so they are all very interchangeable. Syphon mind is great early but loses steam late, ambition and ancient are very consistent. There is something to say about discard tho, even if its a land, missing that 7th land drop can keep someone off the big turn they are trying to have. I need to adopt syphon into more lists, but I do just forget about sometimes.

Your first hand was MUCH better than the one you actually kept. 2 pieces of interaction and some ramp. Hand 2 had a 6 drop, MOM with nothing to protect, and a useless Soul-Guide Lantern.

I would've been tempted to give the Demon pro green instead of having Mom save herself. Keeps the demon alive and blanks an attack. Tough call though, your way definitely worked out for you.
@CommanderReplay3 жыл бұрын
Yeah most definitely a tough call. I think they timed it right too so that it wouldnt have made sense to protect the demon. Just a tough spot.

Yeah she played it in a game somewhat recently, and yeah it was pretty rough to face. Opponents were lucky here that there wasnt tons of removal, just straight to the kills.
