Jack Kent Cooke, the late owner of the REDSKINS wanted to build his stadium in NoVA, Potomac Yard in Alexandria to be specific. I remember a big presser he had with then Gov. Doug Wilder of VA. Then it died because of strong local resistance. Ted Leonsis, the owner of Caps and Wizards tried to build his new arena in that exact same area last year but it failed again. I think it should be built where the RFK stadium used to be.

There isn't any money in that bill for a football stadium. Mario Nawfal needs to learn to read! The bill was giving jurisdiction of the 177 acres where RFK stadium sits as it rots and decays to the city to where they can negotiate with each other on the council what to do with the land. Not everyone on the council wants the stadium!

I'm from the DMV area, and live in DC currently. I can tell you that Oxon Hill, or anywhere else in Maryland is probably a no-go. Oxon Hill has sky-high crime. D.C. at the old RFK site makes the most sense to me.

Well the founding is not coming from the Feds if it does. What is going on is DC is a special district Congress has to approve budgets for the city of DC. They are transferring the land to the City of DC so they can get funds from the City and then Congress could approve the budget from the DC city government. It does not open the door to other projects getting federal funds because it is not really federal funds. It is the City of DC that would approve any funds and then Congress would have to approval. It is a bit strange in DC how it works with the city government.

Federal tax dollars for a Stadium is a lot better than many other uses the federal government spends its money on. When the US Govt was considering building RFK as early as the 1930s it was originally planned to host the Olympics. Well it turned into a multi purpose stadium that got a hell of a lot of use. MLB from 1961-1971 & 2005 -2007, NFL from 1961-1997, MLS from 1996-2017. 1994 FIFA World Cup. 1999 & 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup. 1996 Atlanta Summer Games Football (Soccer) Competition also held matches at RFK (So technically an Olympic facility as well in its life) The site also held numerous concerts and college football bowl games. They should build this thing even with federal funding and build it strong, correctly, beautifully and made to last and with soccer in mind to become our nations National Soccer Stadium as well. The potential future stadium on the RFK site lines up with Capitol Building and the Washington Monument. Its needs to be beautiful and useful.

They will claim the 20 year old stadium is not in a location to compete with other professional sports teams. Perfect place for the new Washington, DC NFL team's stadium is the current stadium's location next. Washington, DC NFL team do not want to pay the full cost of a new stadium. They know if they build a new stadium at the current stadium's location, which they own, they will have to pay most, if not all, the full cost of a new stadium. Building a new stadium at RFK site, which sits on public land, gives the team leverage to ask the public for money. A similar situation happened with the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins own their stadium. They had the nerve to ask Miami Dade County to help pay for renovations for a stadium they own. Miami Dade taxpayers said no!
