What a glorious sight! Aboyne Highland Dress worn by the lassies, dancing, piping, together with a sunny day at the games. All outstanding, well done everyone. If banning the plaid were ever scandalously re-introduced, they'd find these fine folk to contend with first.

Me while watching: is that Hamish? I think it’s Hamish! It’s the right kilt colour… *checks the description* It is Hamish!!! I’m from the same Aussie state and have competed against him many times he’s a great dancer and always a gentleman showing all his competitors respect.

At most competitions, the men wear the kilt to dance all the Highland dances with the exception of the Seann Triubhas where they can choose to wear trews if they wish. Trews may also be worn for the Scottish National dances. However, this Strathspey and Reel was actually a display dance at Aboyne Games and one of the male dancers opted for trews. At Aboyne games the dress rules for competition differ slightly from the norm, anyway, as female dancers wear the Aboyne Dress for all dances except Hornpipe and Jig.
