Commentary of Hybrid Qualities of Tarot Decks Pagan Otherworlds by UUSI First Edition

In keeping with the theme, 'Hybrid Tarot Decks,' I found this deck in my collection from a few years ago.
It's the first edition of Pagan Otherworlds bt UUSI.
I'm wondering if more recent editions have changed any?
My discussion is on how easily this deck can be used with TdM (or pip style) meanings and whether or not RWS imagery wins the day.

Hi, Marilyn! Thank you for a lovely walk-through. The item the Empress is holding is the astrological symbol for the planet Venus, which is associated with the Empress card in the Golden Dawn approach to the tarot.

It's a most beautiful deck! One of my favs although it's not a classical. I read it the same way as the TdM, not as a RWS. But that's my way, my decision. Obviously other people can go the other way round. But nevertheless, this deck is superb. Thank you!

I agree César, this deck is beautiful. I think it's a successful hybrid because I think it can be read either way. I bought this deck and hardly ever used it, but I now feel that I didn't give it a fair shot. I am so glad to be revisiting some of my forgotten tarot decks. Such a beautiful, deck, I too have the first edition. I tend to read as a Marseille deck ,but do find some of the cards with more blatant nods to the RWS can be fused with the Marseille. This deck is so beautifully produced and always near at hand . Thank you for your walkthrough I do hope you enjoy revisiting this deck ,I'd love to see a sample reading maybe interpreting looking at through Marseille eyes !!💕

I enjoyed your thoughts about how one might use this deck, whether calling on its voice as RWS or as TdM. Very interesting. I put off getting this one for a few years, as it just didn't grab me then a couple months ago - wham! Had to get it. So I have the latest edition and, near as I can tell, they haven't changed a thing, not the images or the Roman numerals on the minors. I didn't do a full side-by-side while watching your video, so couldn't swear to no changes though. Thanks!

Hi! I resisted this deck for a long while, then accepted that I do really like it. 😂. I recently got this deck… from USSI … about a month ago. I don’t know what edition it is, but the date on the box is 2016 - but that’s probably the publication date. They have kept Roman numerals on both majors and minors. I sat down with mine and your video to compare them. Box is the same. The only changes I see are that the moons in mine do not seem to have gold, they look more silver and iridescent, and the biggest change is that the colors in mine are not as bright. Unless your video light really brightens and heightens colors, the colors are the same, but a bit more muted and earthy now. (Dagnabbit!) 😊. I like the way the pips retained some of the scenic elements of RWS and took out the people. Then some of them are more TdM… I think it’s a good hybrid and I agree, I would still approach it more as TdM. Thank you for your insights.

Let me explain: I've recently become disenchanted (in quite a literal sense) with RWS and the 3 of swords is a big contention for me. The suit is air and 3 is a number of creation, however, it's a card of heartbreak in RWS. I know Waite attributed the meanings to the decans but I guess I'm leaving towards less scenic pips at this point in my Tarot path. I continued through the rest of the video. I do really like the color palette and the backs are cool and I enjoy your commentary on the cards ❤@MarilynFromTarotClarity
