Hi Karolina, I understand why you turned off comments on your latest video but I wanted to say that I first of all applaud the help and humanity you and your fellow Poles are showing to Ukrainians. I think you touched on a point in your video that is forgotten in many western European countries and definitely in America (I have lived in both regions): we have lost a lot of the collective memory of war that touched us all in WWII and the conditions of which continued behind the "Iron Curtain" that western Europeans and Americans felt free to ignore until they couldn't. I think now that trauma is being reawakened and triggered in Eastern Europe and serving as a new lesson for the WEs and Americans to understand. Thank you for sharing your and your family's story and sharing how impactful this is for everyone in Poland right now. We love you, stay safe.

Dear heart we know. We sit in our homes feeling helpless and angry. So we send what we can and hope it eases someone's burdens even if it is for only that moment on that day. Watching you fight back tears while the world crumbles around you knowing things are changing and some will never be the same. The people of Russia also know but fear their terrorist leader. Yes some are protesting, some are fleeing through Finland. In the end the only thing any of us have is our humanity. Hang on to it at all costs. Hugs!!!
@aniawood2 жыл бұрын
Thank you both for mentioning the trauma being reawakened... I was born in Poland but grew up in the US. My grandparents all had horrific stories of the war that they told me. As a child, it felt far away, and now as an adult I feel so grateful to know their stories, terrible as they were, as it makes me feel closer to humanity and more determined to do what I can to not let these horrors happen again. My heart just breaks daily at the destruction of so many lives. And I feel so proud of the Polish people who are stepping up so epically to help their neighbors.

Karolina: Your latest video on the Ukrainian refugees was outstanding and I posted it on all my social media accounts. I come from a French family that mostly lives in France, and I appreciated your comment about how Eastern Europeans are centered around their experiences of war. My French family is like that. They are so warm to me. Once when I first went to the USA and did not come back for ten years when I did come back it was as if I had never left. This is in the French culture. They knew you could be taken away for years, but when you came back you could take up life again as if you never left. My parents who lived under the NAZIS in France as kids, always act as if they will never see me again even if I leave for a few days. That is what it was like for them as kids. Often times when people left they would never see them again. Anyway, this was an outstanding video! Do more of them!!!

Hi Karolina: I just watched your “What’s happening in Poland” video, but the comments are turned off so I’m responding here. First, thank you for filming scenes in your city so Americans like me can see the reality of what Ukraine and Poland are experiencing. Second, THANK YOU POLAND for stepping up and giving of yourselves so generously! We are hearing news stories of what Poland is doing, and we are amazed. Third, there are a few of us who do know enough history to have some understanding of what Poland has been through in the not-so-distant past, the memories this war brings up (I nearly cried when your grandma was upset by the cannon at the concert), and how your own trauma has caused you to empathize with the Ukrainians and take immediate action to help them. Poland is a light shining in the darkness! I also appreciate how the situation is going to get worse before it gets better, it’s probably going to last longer than we think, and it’s going to take a toll on Poland and your other NATO neighbors in Eastern Europe. Please know that some people get that and are trying to help from a distance, and that your region and its people are never out of our thoughts. I will be praying for Poland as well as Ukraine, and I thank you again for your video. Hang in there, Karolina!

I'm still absolutely baffled at the sheer volume of people who thought Marie Curie is still alive. Like, if you know anything about her whatsoever, you know that she's dead. There was even a joke in Disney's "Enchanted" about it. Furthermore, even if you didn't know this initially, it should be glaringly obvious that the video you made is a parody and not some weird grift in which a young woman tries to steal the identity of a long-dead chemist. Like.....do these people think that Scarlet Johansen literally is Black Widow and that she literally died when her character did?

I do not think I would have thought to ask him how he is and how his family in Poland are doing without having heard what you had to say. It was heart breaking to hear how similar his account was to your own. He said that it is like the horrors of the history books are now on TV and walking the streets. I work at a University and in Senate this morning, we were told of the support we will be giving to Ukranian and Russian students and colleagues. Your story prompted me to ask what we are doing to support our Polish students and colleagues, too. They don’t even recognize that this clearly nonsensical thing you just said is a “joke”. They’re baffled because you said something untrue. They object that you obviously cannot speculate on the motive of the chicken crossing the road, you can’t read a chicken’s mind, why are you even trying to?

Bless you Karolina, and bless all the Polish people, and all people who are helping the Ukrainians. I’ve visited Eastern Europe right after the fall of the Soviet Union and East Block Countries, I know very well the structures, apartment buildings, office buildings, etc you speak of in your latest video reporting on the situation. You have the comments turned off on it, and I understand; I can’t believe anyone could doubt what’s occurring or criticize regular (more like extraordinary!) citizens for helping these suffering people. Anyway, your video reports on things there are SO IMPORTANT to people like me, I hope you’ll keep providing them, weekly or whenever you feel like it. I’m 60 years old. My father fought in WW2, and I grew up with most men of my father’s age having done the same. I’ve visited relatives in Europe who told me about their experiences and what it was like then. I can empathize. I have responsibilities in the US here I can’t leave, but I’m going crazy not being able to do more than just send financial donations, as important as that is. If Not for those responsibilities, I’d go over and help in person. I have more or less just been crying since this started off and on. My wife broke down today after hearing the reporting for too long of a stretch. I absolutely deplore war, and don’t want to contribute to it in any way shape or form, but when there’s someone like Putin on the world political stage, who won’t seriously negotiate, and is apparently disdainful of diplomacy, and has illegally and mercilessly attacked a sovereign country, military means is the only way to confront him. Why the US and those NATO countries that could of also weren’t sending Ukraine military armaments simultaneously during the time Putin was building up forces at the border preparing to invade. Perhaps if that had happened, Putin would’ve been dissuaded, as he would’ve realized how costly it would be, and he possibly fail to take over Ukraine. My thanks to the Polish government for deciding to send its MIG fighter jets to Ukraine. I hope the U.S. forces get them there quickly. We should be giving them newer more up to date fighters too! Once again a single subhuman man, and yes I want to emphasize “MAN” on this International Women’s Day, being the one with power causing hell on earth. I’m a man but I would like nothing better than to see women be the ones to govern for a change. I don’t say “Russians” when speaking of the aggressor, because it’s Putin’s war! There were Russian people protesting against Putin and his war and he shut that down, as well as any news reporting critical of the invasion with just as much ruthlessness as any former Communist Czar ever could. Here in my city of Portland, OR there are a lot of Russians out with the Ukrainians every day waving the Ukrainian flag in their opposition to the invasion too. Wonderful people! There are thousands from the US volunteering to go over and help, and even retired military who are going over to help fight in combat. That wouldn’t be me, but to assist with first aid, etc., I would do if I could. Anyway, I’m sorry for this long post, but I just needed to talk at someone such as yourself, and let you know how much I appreciate your videos, especially now, as fate has us off topic of fashion at present. So care for, comfort, and console those suffering when and how you can, and take care of yourself and yours, stay safe. With much love and respect for you and your countrymen and women. Bless you all.

A, but children can easily lie on the internet even about their age. And I'm a hypocrite for saying it as I've did such thing a decade ago...

@@drayven992 I remember myself from that time, I have never lied about my age online because I was so scared that I will face legal consequences XDD

I would love if you could only make new accounts with a verified email (meaning the email account had to verify your identity) so in case you do nothing but spread hate there is a way to hold you responsible. Karolina has enough self confidence to handle it, but other content creators might not. And cyber bullying is a thing unfortunately.
@evvunja2 жыл бұрын
@@kademelien9363 I think it might be dangerous on so many levels. Hate is not the only problem online. Imagine someone just stealing your mail. They'd basically steal your identity and would be able to do more. I think the best way to fight it is to pay a lot of attention to responsible education. Education is a solution to most of the problems created by humans...

The illiteracy, lack of knowledge and cruelty in our world is truly frightening to me. The inability to understand or discern wit, sarcasm and parody also scares me. There seems to be no appreciation for history, geography, writing or grammar. Written communication is fast becoming a lost art. Thank you for your wit and sharing all off the interesting content you share.

For some reason I read this with a lady whistledown type voice lol. If you leave out the last sentence, it totally sounds like a lady writing a letter to her friend and roasting tf outa some poor guy who just tried to propose or something and she was so disgusted she simply had to write a letter to her bestie about lol.

I hate to tell you, after such a well crafted comment but... *of (last sentence). Sorry, I had to! I am also now paranoid about spelling mistakes in my own comments, but that's on me. Have a nice day!

I'm not one to glamorize the past, but damn, in Ancient times, even prehistoric, humans were smart and knew a lot of stuff and had a keen senses. But now, with all the tech around us, most can't be bothered to even do a search. Tech has dumbed us down, and in case of "return to monke" many of us will die because we don't even know how to put underwear on.

I mean, not being great at spelling and grammar isn't necessarily a sign of unintelligence. Some people are dyslexic or struggle with English as another language or just aren't great at English as a subject. If somebody is kind and well intentioned I honestly don't care how they write.

The Marie Skłodowska Curie section had me screaming laughing but hands down the most relatable part of this video was "hey guys, I cut my bangs at midnight.."

“Bitch you dead” lmao I love that comment - I’m genuinely shocked at how many people were triggered by that video. Thank you for the content - I love what you do!

Karolina, I'm a Ukrainian living in the US and I wanted to leave a note on your March 8 video - but couldn't. I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to you and all Polish people for all the kindness and generosity you have shown to the ukrainian refugees. Please - tell all your friends and anyone who will listen: thank you, thank you, thank you. We could never repay you all for all you've done and continue doing. We know, we see, we pay attention - and our gratitude is without measure. 🙏🏼

Hi Karolina - I'm commenting on your video on Ukraine (the one posted after this) cuz comments are turned off there. I was so glad to see you - I was like "Karolina! Of course! What's happening with HER?! and her area right now?" I live in America, and feel like we're just letting this happen and are complicit. It's horrific. And I'm reminded of our responsibility for Iraq and Syria too. Though those events got little to no media coverage in the American media from the perspective of the victims, and of course the language and culture barriers made things even harder to know, so our awareness was intentionally made less than this current "conflict", we were still so responsible as a nation. Thank you so much for the perspective and stories. And generational stories especially from grandparents. It's all so horrible and weird. And the weirdest thing is how this is even possible to happen - AGAIN - with WWII in the DNA of Europe - and eastern Europe additionally with the DNA of the iron curtain. And such recent DNA. There are so many of us who aren't alive back then but we've heard the stories from the very lips of the people who were. Maybe it's not as strong obviously in the u.s. cuz we don't ALL have those stories and we don't still live in the land where it happened. but we have family and friend immigrant and fighting WWII stories too. And of course, some of us have lots of WWII and iron curtain history knowledge. It's both wildly unreal and yet obviously very real at the same time that this is happening. It just doesn't make any sense. I'm so sorry for all of you. Thanks for the links to help. Although the best most real help would be for us and the world to stop Putin. And then rebuild Ukraine like crazy. So much rebuilding is needed. Such a beautiful place. People's lives and the beautiful place they lived turned into rubble. Unforgettable. Unforgivable. I so wish we could go back to the innocent days that were just recently where the worst news was that a woman was looking everywhere for her cat. 🙂😥 Love y'all and Slava Ukraine.
