Hello Andrew. Looks like you were fishing on Mars with the terrain and Mars Rover vehicle ha ha. I commercial fish in the Northeastern U.S. and found this an interesting video. Trapping and hunting videos are still my favorite cause we don't have the same animals and wide open spaces down here. Keep living the good life & thanks for the videos.

Thank you Andrew for taking the time to make these vids, me and my sons really enjoy seeing what’s going on in another part of Canada. I’ve got a millions questions that maybe others might be interested in. I know tor a busy guy, and when I’m ever in your part of the world I’m definitely going to seek you out to see if I can buy you lunch and talk your ear off with questions. How about these ? You say commercial operation, are there many people pursuing this, are there larger operations, who do they sell to, is the product available to ship, contacts available. Is There somewhere to find out more, is it a DFO thing. What is the season length and do they switch over once the ice is gone. Somewhere to find out about details of net sizes, types and all that sort of stuff. .. anyhow I just wanted add these questions so if you see this perhaps on your next vidjeo the more information you can add the better. I thanks again for sharing this, and it’s kinda of cool to think how many people you reach out to with this !! Be safe. Peace. Is a break even thing

My dad was a commercial fisherman in Wisconsin, and I grew up fishing with him. We fished 100 foot gill nets under the ice, usually in pairs, so the landing hole was in the middle, with a hole at each end just large enough to bring the end of the net up to attach a braile line. We did fish 300 foot nets a few times, but they were pretty hard to pull all the way back under the ice. But we were also fishing far shallower than you are. We never pulled the whole net out onto the ice like that. The meshes will catch on any little bit of ice sticking up and break when you pull it back in. Two guys stood right at the hole and piled the net up, just a couple feet away from the hole. You do have to take care to lay it down right so it feeds back in without snarling. We also cut a much larger landing hole.
