just some advise...you need to get S.O.B. posts (for the rod to set in while you reel up) and some rod knobs (to put the end of the rod against your pelvis to crank the fish up (its so much easier) and you get more leverage also. good luck.

Lol..Me too! I'm an old school Grouper Digger from way back. This brings back the memories..I caught some big Gags back in the day but honestly don't know if I could turn a 35 + lb er or not anymore. Just turned 70

It definitely will make you sore but that wears off after a day or two. The lasting pain from doing things the human body clearly isn't designed to do is what I found concerning, definitely going to be more cautious in the future.
