I've watched hundreds of video"s of dozens of pilots and that is the first one of a rapid descent like that......great stuff there!!! I think I could get to like those kind of descents on every landing......lol And the stalls are always a crowd pleaser ;-) Thanks for the cool video Lew!!!

Perhaps keep a hand on the throttle during takeoff & climb out. There was a lot of aileron use during the stalls.

Excellent Video! I'm a PPL student. Last Saturday my CFI had me practice (90* and 360* climbing/descending turns, Turns to headings). Visibility was not great due to the smoke haze which obstructed the horizon line & left us more dependent on the instruments for reference. I was able to preform all maneuvers satisfactory but my equilibrium was thrown off a bit afterwards followed by a terrible migraine! Is there anything you guys do to help cope with airsickness? Hoping to become acclimated over time!

Practice flying by instruments in a sim, for tens of hours, then do it in the air. You'll get used to it I'm sure.

Best advice is make sure you are hydrated and then practicing unusual attitudes with your CFI! The more you get use to it the better you feel! I was the same way at first

Great video! Quick clarification @6:42, increasing bank angle alone DOES NOT increase stall speed. Increasing the LOAD FACTOR, i.e increasing bank angle AND increasing back pressure on the elevator to maintain level flight or climb increases stall speed. Increasing the bank angle without increasing back elevator pressure will cause the airplane to descent because the vertical component of lift is reduced. Page 10-2 of FAA-8083-3C Airplane Flying Hanbook. Other than that love your videos.

Thanks man! I’m not sure why you needed to give clarification given the exercise we were doing. He understood that in his accelerated stalls, increasing bank and increasing angle of attack was increasing stall speed. Hence the stall warning at a higher airspeed. It’s the whole point of the maneuver to demonstrate the facts in your comment. Nobody was refuting the aerodynamics of it. Doing this maneuver it’s implied that you’re pulling back when banking, I told him to do it haha

Never done Chandelles but it sounds like you want to instantly convert all your airspeed above stall speed into best possible turn rate and climb rate for the first 90DEG and then, best climb rate for the second 90DEG while maintaining the airspeed. The objective being to turn 180 from present course at the tightest possible turn radius.

that and trying to climb and clear the obstacle quickly which is why the first 90 degrees is just trying to clear with best rate of turn and trying to keep increasing pitch and the next 90degrees is keeping maximum pitch to climb as much as you can

I know this is an old vid... but that first stall is one of the PPL things.... being "Macho" (cocky) about it. Young bob was so busy talking... he wasn't "Listening" to his instructor, since commercial standards are first indication. Not to mention... he had a secondary stall indication trying to recover too quickly.

Young Bob is flying like a butterfly 👐 No ailerons mate on the stall, Radar only, fly like a pro On a turn to a stall, for recovery never use Ailerons only Rader you are encouraging the stall all you are doing with the ailerons, 60 Degrees bank, on a suiside mission with a such a low altitude
