Can i treat underside rust on a flat unpainted roof near to the gutter by grinding and applying a heavy duty rust convertor from underneath, area about 2 sq metres,rest of the roof in satisfactory condition.

I did exactly what u said about measuring the leak from a landmark or reference point and accurately found every leak. After watching all your videos I finally got down to work and tackled it. Roof repairs are hard work, every joint in my body ached from standing on an incline and doing work plus the sun is draining. Thanks again for your videos.

What's the biggest hole you can cover with the fleece. And wouldn't the silicone seal work and be better seince its white?

Let me just tell you about the flat roof doctor's product Turbo Poly Seal. I have an old bungalow in Florida, the chimney needs to be flashed and it needs a cricket, why in the last hundred years it never had that I don't know but it leaked big time. I tried everything they sell at Lowes and Home Depot none of them work, all garbage. The turbo poly seal I used and fleece I quickly applied before a tropical storm, the first day it let in a bit of water, I thought here we go again, another product that doesn't work. But then, after a couple of sunny days it rained again, nothing this time, not a drop. Apparently it just needed a bit of time to cure. Not a drop since. This stuff is amazing, industrial grade, it works unbelievably well, highly recommend.

My advice is you cannot paint directly over rust without treating and sealing it and that includes the underside. The metal patch was screwed on to rusted iron and that rust will continue to creep It depends on how long you want it to last . This repair hopefully will work for 4-5 years but if you want to prolong the life you have to treat and seal all rusted areas both sides. Of course this is a lot more time consuming lifting the iron and attending to the rust on both sides before applying the patch.

Have some rust just starting. What about knocking off the rust then prime the metal then spray paint the spot?

I have patched many rust holes in metal roofs using a couple of tubes of permanent gutter sealant ,sheet metal and steel rivets and painting it,using screws doesn't allow the panel to expand and contract like it is suppose too.

Love these videos thanks for making them. I just purchased poly seal for a metal roof patch on my old house. What type of metal should I use? Can I use the thin aluminum sheet that they sell at Home Depot? I do have some sheets of copper as well. Thanks for your help.

You can't use silicone on plastic or vinyl !!

Partially correct. If Plexiglass is considered plastic, then you can use it on that. I f Vinyl is PVC or TPO, then it is likely not to work on that unless you prepare the surface first
