I remember watching channels 25, 38 and 56. Those were the days.

As others have said this is 1984. Service Merchandise was founded in 1934 and they're talking about their 50th anniversary.

2:15 - Cool Whip - voiceover by James Harder, who was Big Fig in 1970s Fig Newton commercials. His father had survived the Titanic---to his and his family's great shame, because, at that time, men were expected to sacrifice their lives, so women & children could survive.

I can comfirm it, Commercials - WLVI 56, Boston - December, 1984. WLVI didn't carry Celtics TV Road Games until the 1985-86 NBA Season.

Great research !! Damn i would do anything to go back to 84 /85 !!

That and the Toys R Us commercial is showing off Atari games, before Nintendo came onto the scene in 1985 and saved video games.

If I remember correctly channel 38 had the Celtics games.

Didn’t Channel 4 WBZ carry the Celtics during the NBC era?

I remember watching Ch.56's 10' o clock news before I went to bed each night since I used to work until 9pm during the week back then.

Purity Supreme on Gallivan Blvd in Dorchester headed towards 93N and Quincy. Across the street from the McDonald's with the jacked up drive thru....who remembers?

I found a bunch of purity Supreme and Angelo's food stamp chips in an old house that was getting demolished.

1984 for sure - that's the year WLVI launched "The News at Ten" (one of the first promos can be seen around 13:00)

I remember a Purity Supreme at a Danvers Plaza near (old) exit 50 in Danvers. That older guy in the Toys'R'Us adverts is creepy, and he's a crappy ventriloquist. I miss the WLVI news at 10, but unforunately the weather models don't update till 11pm so you got a slightly outdated forecast. Also, what normal family in the 80s owned a yacht? 12:26 Boy, lady, you ain't seen nothin' yet

These brought back memories, thanks for the video 😊

13:24 - Colgate Pump - This is the redubbed version. In the original, the line was, "Mom's gonna kill you!" But so many people complained about it being a violent death-threat (instead of normal sibling rivalry), that it was redubbed to, "Mom's gonna get you!" Which is so wimpy that no kid would ever say it.

You could clearly see where it was dubbed yet the visuals have the characters mouth the word "k*ll"

They weren't afraid to say "Merry Christmas" then. I'm thinking this was 1984. That was the end of the teenage sex comedy era. For some reason in 1985 Feminists took over. Three's Company became Three's a Crowd. Benny Hill no longer had the super hot women. They started telling us Ally Sheedy was hot.

I have a question about the Sunday Movie animation, did other stations use it, or just WLVI? Those look great.

Will you upload a United Cerebral Palsy ad from 1983, featuring Geri Jewell, as well as a shot of her, the white pants, a shot of Geri Jewell with a microphone in her hand, and another shot of the white pants. And at the end, we see the text "Give to United Cerebral Palsy", and another shot of the white pants is seen?
