​@@AndyDoz I once had a TV on the bench that was dead checked it for about 10 minutes then found out the bench power supply wasn't turned on (the tv had no sound ) EEROM.

Funny that you should mention Rapid's eBay store. I ordered a couple of things from there just this week. No minimum order, no postage charge, great prices and speedy delivery. What's not to like? I, too, was surprised how low cost they were. Have fun with the C64. Greetings from Sodding Chipbury.

Nicely done. I often find parts are cheaper on eBay than from the shop's website. Switch Electronics are the same, as they often sell small parts in multi-packs via eBay and they work out cheaper than the multi-buy discounts on the website, especially once you add the postage on. Can't say I've ever used a soldering iron to make holes in plastic, but I have been known to use a combination of a screw, pliers and torch which is far less acceptable.

@@AndyDoz Let's not forget the soldering iron makes a great plastic welder too, especially with nylon ukulele string which works really well as a cheap, widely available filler material with a low melting point for filling in stripped plastic mounting lugs or adding strength to snapped plastic clips. Switch recently updated their site, and there pretty good at sourcing stuff they don't stock too, often cheaper than the bigger distributors. The range is slowly improving.
