What an fascinating hour and plus with Doz, brilliant :) The early PLA's does seem to be more robust than the later MOS one's. Just had one of those die withiin seconds after turning the power on.

Glad you (almost) got it working! Your power supply video inspired me to dig out the one I bought years ago and never powered on. Cobbled a power supply together (nowhere near as neat as yours), cleaned a couple of chip sockets and it powered right up. Been having fun playing with SAM and trying to get the temperamental cassette logic and some dodgy keyboard keys to work reliably. It's been interesting to learn 'proper' BASIC after programming other languages for so many years, these computers were before my time, I started in Visual Basic 6, moving quickly on to C and its variants.
