Simply amazing, just imagine having arcde conversions this great back in the days.

Holy crap! This is OCS with only 1 MiB? So, you're saying that when I was 16, I could have been playing this on my stock A500 with an extra 512K of RAM in the trap door? Amazing!
@sanjyuu22983 сағат бұрын
You could, you could also play something that looks even better that makes this game look like it's a prototype - Lionheart. There is also another graphical candy from the era that could confuse people whether it is AGA game or ECS game - Ruff'n'tumble. There are more good looking games from the era :) I like how people are taking their time now to bring something they always dreamed to be on Amiga, lot of times ports were just lacking.

Absolutely amazing work. In so glad youre continuing with this. This, imo, is the most exciting thing in the amiga scene at this moment along with metro siege. The fact its running on an a500 on the scorpion engine is phenomenal. The pixel art is sublime and thanks for keeping the soundtrack faithful to the arcade. It is one of the best arcade soundtracks ever after all, so its a good choice. I have a few questions though. Why did you choose to replace the ropes with platforms? And. Will you be adding the super jump in a later demo? Only asking as its a major component in the arcades gameplay mechanics. Anyways. Incredible work. I eagerly await the next update ;)
@basementape226115 сағат бұрын
Thank you and everyone else for the kind words :D I'm sad about losing the ropes but there's not much I can do about it I think. Any technical solution that Scorpion allows for on this is too slow and janky-looking. That's not a crit btw. Scorpion is great. But it doesn't have dedicated tools to handle this kind of thing. Super jumps are def coming though. Later levels absolutely need them.

@@basementape2261 Do you think it would be possible to put the ropes back in a theoretical Amiga 1200 version?
@warciКүн бұрын
impressive work!! One think I would like on these types of arcade conversions though is the option to have a more Amiga-sounding version of the soundtrack as well. The conversion of the arcade music is really well done, but these synth-sound based tracks don't really play to the strengths and weaknesses of paula. This is not meant as a criticism at all btw! Just that I enjoy the typical Amiga sample sound a lot.
@Asphodellife21 сағат бұрын
I have this 'problem' with more 1:1 Amiga conversions; it's great ofcourse, but to choose the Amiga version instead of the MAME version, it would be great to have some Amiga exclusive stuff, like choice in quality 'Amiga' soundtracks.
@basementape226115 сағат бұрын
Thanks! I see what you mean. I'm not a musician myself so my skills in that dept is limited to try and replicate the arcade tunes as closely as possible. Luckily JMD and Tsak helped out and did a lot of the music and both did a great job.
@warci5 сағат бұрын
@@basementape2261 That's really impressive, because the tune sounds good and really close to the arcade version indeed. What I really want to say is, given the awesome work you're doing, don't feel you have to make it 'arcade perfect'. Changing things to be more "amiga-like" would be cool too. I know opinions are divided on this one, because a lot of people prefer to stick to originality. Anyway, enough rambling. The game looks fantastic and I can't wait to play it!

Amazing work - love it! The background statues look a bit out of place, though. They haven't been well integrated in the background and stick out too much. That's my only criticism. Otherwise, this looks spectacular!
@basementape226115 сағат бұрын
TY :) To be honest, giant statues way up in the mountains never made much sense to me either. But the arcade version has them and quite a few people were missing them so.. They do add visual variety tho so that's good

@@basementape2261 Yeah they're strange as well in the arcade version.
@Midwinter23 сағат бұрын
@@basementape2261 Thanks for your reply! The difference is that they look great in the arcade version - and are perfectly well integrated into the fantasy art style. I'm sorry, but that's not the case here. They are not nicely drawn, look like they've been copied-and-pasted over the graphics - and visually are spoiling the background and interfering with the foreground due to sticking out too much. I should say that I am an illustrator myself and this is what is immediately apparent to me. Please don't take this as me putting this game down. This adaptation is magnificent - and I find myself emotionally invested in it! I love the statues in the arcade version, but I strongly feel that, in their current incarnation, they don't work in this version. Honestly, I think the background worked a lot better without them. However, there is no doubt that this conversion is an outstanding piece of work.

@@basementape2261 Apologies! I am trying to be clear. You're right - word choice is important and I should know better! I do not intend to be rude. Since I first saw your game, I have repeatedly praised it to the skies. This is the very first time I've had a criticism. Let me repeat: your game is a brilliant piece of work. My comments are in relation to the art style that you have established - which is different from the art style of the arcade version. In other words, I am totally going with your art style and find that the statues don't work with it. Now, since I have offended you, let me try to make amends and put my money where my mouth is, as it were. I will draw some suggested redesigns of your statues and will send you my design if you tell me where to send it. Now, I have never worked with pixel art before - I'm mostly pen & ink and using photoshop for colour. But I want to do this properly and work with the graphics of your game, In other works, give me a little time. I'll get it to you eventually! Rastan was my favourite game in the arcades - so I'm very invested in your project. What do you say?

Rispetto alla versione arcade hanno migliorato la grafica e tolto il parallasse. Sembra un po' più facile rispetto all'originala da sala giochi, senza dubbio è un buon adattamento.
