Our E39 used to overheat on hot days when we were stuck in traffic. Replaced the water pump, the thermostat and the radiator but couldn't get it solved. My parents sold it after 9 years ownership. Nevertheless it was a great car, wish I could keep it but I hadn't my license back then.

I used to have a saab mechanic looked exactly like him. He was a super mechanic. He fixed everything and explained it all down to every detail. Mechanics, these days are entitled estimators who knew nothing but to replace modules based on eec readings.

My dad had same issue on his 335xi 2009 (E92 for those bmw buffs out there). But another issue he had was his radiator cooling fan wouldn’t come on. Long story short I diagnosed it down to no power. It ended up being a loose sitting relay in the “DME.” Now this issue on the video could kill someone’s engine, BUT the relay that just comes out, common issue that only bmw mechanics know about, that is serious. No cooling fan while idling or in traffic- Car es muerte. All from a loose relay?! People need to know about this possible issue.

I have learned at times with systems under pressure you only start with 1 leak and fix it, only to have that leak sealed and it causes another leak to show up usually due to old hoses. Or you forgot to put something on right. Also if you get a new radiator always replace the cap. If you don't know how old the cap is replace it. $10 for a new cap is better than having one fail on the road.
