the characteristics is 8 because it comes before the decimal point

@@l1masdigitaldiary thank you so much @limaslife2472. But I found out it's actually zero (0) because it you write 8.003 in standard form, you get 8.003x10^0 and the characteristics is the power of 10 when a number is in standard form. Would appreciate further contribution thank you
