About how long do radishes need to put down tubers before frost? I always end up with small leafs and tiny roots.

Typically I plant about 45-50 days before the first average frost. With that said I do that so the plants are still palatable for hunting season. A lot of people plant way to early and the plants get stemmy and deer won’t eat that. If you plant 45-50 Days before frost you’ll have average bulb size and highly palatable greens. If you plant before that you’ll have larger bulbs and less palpable greens. Also if you plant to many brassicas “seeds per acre” you’ll grow small Bulbs. All depends what you want. I would also do a soil sample. You may be lacking nutrients to develop a strong root system
