Something terrible is about to happen and i can't help but feel that this is a sort of "predictive programming" for what will, surely, take place as soon as the next year

Careful with the end-of-days predictions. That's protestant territory.

Me too. I almost texted my priest earlier asking him what to do if my protestant buddy at school asks to pray with him cause I just have a suspicion he will soon as he’s been asking me about Orthodoxy.

Yet this Priest is still in communion with these heretics. I don’t understand all this talk about Canons but here we are, still in communion with the heretics and nothing seems to be changing.

I am really grateful for the attention to this topic. I'm a bit confused about this quote though (around 8.30): "Common prayer does not occur when a man attends a some religious service for merely scientific, touristic, ceremonious or social reasons." What does this exactly mean in practical terms? E.g., do attending heterodox funerals, weddings, etc come under "social reasons." It would be great if this could all be fleshed out with practical, everyday examples (in simple, understandable language). Thankyou for your labour 🙏
@bondservantandbrideoflogos757024 күн бұрын
Of course. Will we not attend a family members funeral or wedding simply because they are heterodox? Or even secular?

Does it make a distinction between heretics vs heterodox?
@deltagbeta25 күн бұрын
Aren’t the heterodox another word for heretics. They are not in communion with orthodox. For example , the latins (Catholics ) are called by all the main saints heretics, Nowadays peopel call them schismatics or heterodox. That doesn’t change the reality that St Palamas, St Mark of Ephesus clearly calls hte heretics and they never co-celebrated or did common prayers

Don’t worry, all the overwhelming majority of Ecumenist bishops, will excommunicate themselves at the next Ecumenical Council. Be patient. 🌝

This actually shows a great degree of faithlessness in the Church. What did people say after St. Maximus reposed and the vast majority of bishops were embracing the heresy he fought against? But twenty years later a council was called and condemned monthelitism.
@borremoonkey20 күн бұрын
@@OrthodoxWisdom Not at all so not sure how you came to that conclusion. From The Life of Our Holy Father St. Maximus the Confessor, pp. 60-62: [More from his discussion with the Monothelites] "To which church do you belong? To that of Byzantium, of Rome, Antioch, Alexandria, or Jerusalem? For all these churches, together with the provinces in subjection to them, are in unity. Therefore, if you also belong to the Catholic Church, enter into communion with us at once, lest fashioning for yourself some new and strange pathway, you fall into that which you do not even expect!" To this the righteous man wisely replied, "Christ the Lord called that Church the Catholic Church which maintains the true and saving confession of the Faith. It was for this confession that He called Peter blessed, and He declared that He would found His Church upon this confession. However, I wish to know the contents of your confession, on the basis of which all churches, as you say, have entered into communion. If it is not opposed to the truth, then neither will I be separated from it." [After hearing their confession of Faith, and after further discussion, he was asked] "But what will you do," inquired the envoys, "when the Romans are united to the Byzantines? Yesterday, indeed, two delegates arrived from Rome and tomorrow, the Lord's day, they will communicate the Holy Mysteries with the Patriarch. " The Saint replied, "Even if the whole universe holds communion with the Patriarch, I will not communicate with him. For I know from the writings of the holy Apostle Paul: the Holy Spirit declares that even the angels would be anathema if they should begin to preach another Gospel, introducing some new teaching." As history has demonstrated, Saint Maximus -- who was only a simple monk and not even ordained -- and his two disciples were the ones who were Orthodox, and all those illustrious, famous and influential Patriarchs and Metropolitans whom the Saint had written against were the ones who were in heresy. When the Sixth Ecumenical Council was finally convened, among those condemned for heresy were four Patriarchs of Constantinople, one Pope of Rome, one Patriarch of Alexandria, two Patriarchs of Antioch and a multitude of other Metropolitans, Archbishops and Bishops. During all those years, that one simple monk was right, and all those notable bishops were wrong." Also of note, which relates the the anathema against Ecumenism, including those in communion with Ecumenists, by ROCOR under St. Philaret the New Confessor in 1983, the bishop trying to compel St. Maximus, interestingly also admits that they don't really believe in Monothelitism but merely a compromise for politicals reasons, but there is this about "insignificant local councils." So St. Maximus recounts that a local council had already declared Monothelitism a heresy(pp. 22-23): "Then, when he recalled the local council that had been summoned at Rome by blessed Pope St. Martin to condemn the Monothelites, Bishop Theodosius answered, "That council has no significance, for it was not summoned by the Emperor's decree." The saint replied, "If only those councils are confirmed which were summoned by royal decree, then there cannot be an Orthodox Faith. Recall that councils that were summoned by royal decree against the homoousion, proclaiming the blasphemous teaching that the Son of GOd is not of one essence with God the Father. Of such councils, the first was in Tyre, the second in Antioch, the third in Seleucia, the fourth in Constantinople under Eudoxius the Arian, the fifth in Nicaea, the sixth in Sirmium, and the seventh was in Ephesus, presided over by Dioscorus. All these councils were summoned by royal decrees, but they were all rejected and anathematized, since godless definitions of faith were accepted at them. At the same tie, why do you not reject the council which rejected Paul of Samosata lead by Dionysius, the Pope of Rome, Dionysius of Alexandria, and Gregory the Wonderworker, who presided. That council took place without any royal command; it is, however, unassailable and irrefutable. The Orthodox Church recognizes as true and holy only those councils at which true and infallible dogmas were established." Current circumstances with New Calandarists/world orthodox haven't been a couple of years or even decades but it's been a century at this point of the downward trajectory and starting to resemble what happened when Rome separated. Interstingly, Archbishop Averkey of Blessed Memory, spoke about the novel ecclesiology that resembles Papism would began taking root in many in the coming times, to blind obedience to heretical bishops. If I can find the exact Orthodox Word issue number, I'll post it since I'm sure you could find it in archive sites.

Loving is different than praying and worshipping with. The Lord said to the Samaritan Woman at the well (Saint Photine) that they (the Samaritans) worshipped what they knew not, even though the Samaritans supposedly believed and worshipped the God of Israel.

@@danielgaley9676 You're comment is appealing to Protestsnt Evangelism. Also, the way that people respond, along with my comment, is discernment, it's a push back. Now if you were inquiring, your comment would've included that, but it didn't, because what you followed it with. Also, Protestants don't know what "judgement" is, they've taken a liberal Marxist viewpoint. We have no power to follow actions on the internet. (Not saying you, but that's what the majority appeal is, the "default" mindset that people have.) Lastly, you're on the internet, you need to go to an Orthodox Church, again, I could be some Atheist spreading a fake stuff or giving a bad impression, you don't know that. So, go to an Orthodox Church, if you don't have one near, look up the nearest one, could be hundred of miles away, and contact them by phone to work something out. You'll run into various characters, it's a hospital.
