I’m probably a 2:30 /100m swimmer. This has been very helpful.

Shane's stroke looks like 90% of the swimmers at my local pool.

Thanks for this video, Brenton! We always think our stroke is not so bad until we see it on video! I need to work on different issues than Shane but there is no shortage of things I need to work on! Step one: make a video. Step two: send it to you to critique!

Our coached swim program avidly follows your channel, social media and podcasts and I think this particular video is the most relatable one yet. I found all coaching points excellent and will be implementing them next week at our pool sessions. Bravo for profiling an alternate physique for your athletes and providing terrific coaching points. More of these please (a woman athlete who is over 65 would be a bonus).

Good tips. I'm really just starting to learn to swim. Theses tips give me something to think about during my swim this morning.

I feel like I do some of the things you mention, like not looking up too high on breath, but am still slow up to 2.30m per 100m. I don't know if am just not really trying hard enough just now but I get slower and slower despite trying to improve my technique 😔mind you, I have no idea what am really doing in the pool...taught myself with KZbin :-) Still love to swim even though am a slow poke lol

You are telling him to do 'split vision'. But the problem is that you can't do that if you are not going fast enough. That will never happen before he figures out the stroke. That i s why I think snorkels are needed to perfect the stroke first.

The position of the head is very important, especially when turning to breathe, which has a great impact on the position of the body. Many people do it sideways and twisting their necks at the same time. This is a wrong action and requires a lot of training because it is contrary to our daily life habits.

Could anyone, please, tell me where can I buy the t-shirt which Brenton wears? I'd love to have it, but can't find it on their eshop. Does anyone of you have it? Thanks

Unless I use a swim buoy or a Roka swim pant, my time is 3 to 3:30 per 100. With the ROKA swim pant I can get to 2:45. I know that you are marketing to elite or really good swimmers BUT I have been swimming in tri races for a decade and can get to the end of the swim but watching really fast swimmers concerned with 1:30 is not helpful

I used to swim with someone much larger who could keep a comfortable 1'20"/100m, his technique was exceptional. Yes, less mass would help but not crucial in swimming. Technique is everything.

Totally. Dude needs to mix in a salad twice a day or more. I was 260 10 months ago. Now I am 225. I can easily hold a 1:30 100 meter freestyle, and I'm 62 years old. Less fat means more speed. Salad. Technique. Hard work. That's all. vs

Can we even call someone who does 100m slower than 2' a swimmer? If you drop an average person from the street they can probably do less than 2' lol.
@moocowp4970
@moocowp4970 Күн бұрын
If you put an average person from the street in the pool they're unlikely to be able to swim 200m at all without stopping and panting hard, let alone the 1.5km distance needed for a triathlon. Please have some respect for people trying to improve themselves, even if they aren't at your level yet.

I go swimming twice a week 1.5km each time and I'm stuck at about 2.05, or about 1:50 for one lot of 100m I'm faster than about half the other regular swimmers and a little slower than the other half. (Assuming you don't count the dolphins in the squad training). When I was a kid I could do the 100m in under a minute. I think you'll find a bunch of people stuck around the 2min mark.

You obviously don't know much about the health of our society, and statistics. First of all less than 50% of the population can actually swim for 25 meters unassisted without stopping in 30 seconds or less. So if imagine if a study was being conducted at a swimming pool and 100 random people were asked to swim 100 meters? Highly doubtful that over 25 could do it in less than 2 minutes.
