@strider5119 Жыл бұрын
Not really any tricks. You can teach them to be hand fed though. And you "can" have fish in the tank, but whether or not a mantis shrimp will kill them or not depends entirely on him. I know of fish staying with a mantis for over a year, then randomly disappearing. others get killed straight away. One of the times I dropped live food in, my mantis wasn't hungry. He gave it a small warning punch (tiny click) to get away from his cave and he ignored it for a day. Then when he felt up to the meal, he walked up, knocked it super hard and ate it lol

Funny how people just think that animals can have special attachments with humans... Then you say the truth that he looks for you because of food. Animals really think of feed for life instead of just once.
@MidnightHedgehog3652 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the animal. Of course the bigger the brain the more likely the animal will create emotional attachments. Just like how we're babies we can't comprehend anything but who gives us food and wanting food but as we grow we develop attachments and social structures to our family. Other animals with social structures are the same way. I love my mom but of course I would feel differently if she stopped feeding me as a child. It is through caretaking that emotional bonds can flourish as you care for the ones that take care of you and provide some sort of enrichment in your life. This mantis shrimp tho. I think he just wants food and nothing more 😂
@rudolfdirks92532 жыл бұрын
@@MidnightHedgehog365 not a bigger brain, but a mire creviced brain. Also, animals like crows, dogs, dolphins and some other animals can in fact have emotional attachments to other animals (including humans of course).
@MidnightHedgehog3652 жыл бұрын
@@rudolfdirks9253 yeah that's what I meant but I thought it would be better understood if I just said bigger Brain. There are tons of animals that develop emotional attachments and friends with others of their own species and other species. That's how animals become "Bonded". So when you go to adopt a cat for instance they might not let you adopt the cat without the other because they're a "bonded pair". Mammals are intelligent and are capable of more than just baseline instincts and no higher thought Humans should not forget we are just mammals as well that's why I used a baby as an example because it is safe to assume that if we can do and feel something it is likely that other animals do too. Monkeys mourn their dead and cry and hug each other for crying out loud that is definitely an emotional attachment.
@afri2052 жыл бұрын
@@MidnightHedgehog365 about human/primate babies, they actually form emotional attachment not entirely based on who feeds them. There was a super unethical experiment done with monkey infants where they were taken from their mothers and given the choice between two fake moms: a wire form of a monkey holding a bottle of milk and a soft form of a monkey covered in a warm blanket. The babies preferred the warm comfort over the food.
