For each QSO phrase, try to head-copy it. First, the phrase is sent in Morse code. Then it is spoken. And finally, it is sent again in Morse code. If you missed something the first time when it was sent, the second time allows you an opportunity to learn it. (More speeds below in the description.)

This is awesome. I’ve been struggling with qso cw. This really helped me commit common qso abbreviations to memory as sounds rather than listening to characters.

You're welcome, Richard! It has been my pleasure to give back to the amateur community. Learning to head-copy can be uncomfortable. I found it a little difficult transitioning from keyboard-copy to head-copy. I wish you all the best on your Morse code journey! 73 de AD0WE

I really enjoy this but, I find it hard to relate to real QSO's where the word like your is ur and here is hr I rarely hear anyone use the long version of these and other words, just the short cuts. Nice to copy names and qth and sig reports.

It is on my to-do list to create additional and improved QSO practice. I haven't quite got to it yet. I am currently working on a set of practice sets geared at helping students move from copying individual words to phrases and sentences. Thanks for the feedback, Bill. 73 de AD0WE

In a way your right ... today many do not use very many abbreviations because many are using software to send or receive or both.. However many older hams do use these ..plus abbreviations like es ,fer ,tnx ,wx , hw cpy ect... and others , have always been the norm.... Its very common to eliminate the O .... or replace it with an E . Like fer instead of for or nw instead of now.. I know what you mean though. ARRL code practice just puts ever character out there... But if you happen on a frequency where old hams meet and are sending fast, they all will be abbreviating everything... it throws me for a loop .. Hi Hi
