I really am enjoying the podcasts! Jen is a natural talent 👍. The data you collected on mock scrapes is a gold mine. I could imagine narrowing down dates and conditions for certain areas and really pinning down must sit days. Also set the standards for small parcel deer info-!

I have watched every video you made! Made a food plot on a property I hunt on the east side of the property right behind his cow pasture. It's located right by a thicket that does bed in every now and then. I don't hunt the property until late bow season around the rut so the deer feel safe and only can hunt winds out of the east/northeast winds. Wish I could post some pictures of my small plot but 2nnd year doing it and last year I had 7 different bucks come through and even got pics of 3 different bucks scent checking does while they were eating in the plot during daylight. Thanks for posting all the info for hunters

Just about every video you give me something more to consider for my retirement property setup. Really need to finish clearing a trail to the back. My trail zig zags for cover. R.A.W. Came down trail several times during bear season before archery season and had deer on bait pile. And great cover within bow range. Next bear license I will go up day before archery deer opens. Except if kids are hunting early youth deer season. So can get deer off bait pile while bear hunting too.

I have lake on one side of my 10 acres and a ridge. Mid morning there's a fog as woods drys out. The air hangs and don't move then lake breeze starts. That haze period is when to have someone making donuts to attract bear. My property butts up to CFA land. But is easier to drive in almost compete circle. Which spooks herds of deer on CFA land. Plenty of deer on CfA land. I was bear hunting before archery deer opened. I made a horse show of cuts around the bait pile on my land. Think it helped fisher cat get a deer. I actually hunt deer over CFA land 20 feet on to neighbors property. Need to extend my trail. While keeping cover from the ridge. Been looking at the Brasica mix. Which also is high in oxalic acid for my honey bees. And of course gonna plant more pears and apple trees. Selected for holding fruit longer. If I can keep moose from destroying them. Trying to fill a food void on property during 3rd season bear and beginning of deer archery hunting season. A neighbor few parcels over has deer feeder too. Populations of wolves and coyotes and CFA land is pretty open so deer can out run them. They don't seem to think humans aren't predators unlike down state. They don't run far at all. I can feel the impact tremor in the sand from the animals. Step lightly.

Hi Jeff. In this video you mention Miscanthus grass as relatively narrow edge screening particularly along edges of powerlines / utility right-of-ways (screened access). Is this Miscanthus grass the same as "silvergrass" or "Pampus grass"? Went and looked it up and there seems to be many different varieties. Some visual examples of where and how to appropriately use this grass would be helpful. Is this primarially a "clump" grass? To propagate more than a short visual screen, one would then need to periodically divide clumps and plant them at near-by locations to improve the screening? Asking because our power utility came in about 5 years ago and demolished our 100 year old hedge row. It was more than a hedge row. It was a 20' wide brushy screen with scattered hackberry trees and redbuds. They ran down a 30' to 50' wide swath with a "tree mover", and left me a strip of mulch 20 to 30' wide and a quarter mile long. Starting to get some re-sprout trees and shrubs along the fence line, but it simply does not have the visual screening it had 6 or 7 years ago. Even some relatively limited additions of visual screening in the region of entry gates would really help. We have too many "road-hunters" (slobs) cruising our roads. Thanks, hope you can elaborate on Miscanthus grass applicatios in one of your videos.

Some of the "B roll" showed you cultipacking buckwheat. I used this last year in a few of my food plots and was pleased. However, the deer HAMMERED it. Not a big deal, but how does this align with the "no summer food" to avoid a doe factory? Is it more about not planting anything in the SPRING for all summer?

How many yards are needed between plots to allow you to put a stand-mock scrape-licking stick-water hole with good, secure access so that you don't spook deer in a food plot?

STANDS/BLINDS- I have several setups that are both morning as well as evening stand, the way I access those stands are different in the morning vs the evening, both are hidden, but does that leave to much scent? I basically have a trail system that goes around the entire property but a few access are tight but hidden. Thank you.

Own 14 acres in Attica mi my neighbor was hunting 5 yards off the line faced my property. Confronted him he put up a fence and made a trail on the border. Was thinking about hinge cutting that side on my side of the fence to block his view. Would that be a bad thing

Depending on the habitat and location I do...but a lower priority on most parcels. For example I have made very few in my own here in MN and in WI because the terrain dictates where deer travel. Sometimes a good addition and needed more on some lands than others.

We have our property accidentally set up in a way where we protect the deer FROM hunters 😂 In Michigan we have a quarter-mile long plot of woods with a Highway on one of the far ends, and a river as the other farthest border. It basically acts like a travel corridor for them, we've noticed, So they dont even really have to leave. My parents are retired now and they provide food and maintain thick forestand the highway keeps them blocked in, so they only ever go back and forth between the food station, the river, and maybe a few city-slicker neighbors who all have 10-30 acre plots like us 😂 I'm not against hunting, we have a literal closet full of personal protection. But I'd just rather watch the deer and wild turkeys doing their thing. And that's what half of hunting is anyways. Being in nature and observing it.

It is crazy to go back there in the woods and literally in a 200 ft radius around the feed, not a single inch of snow doesn't have a hoof print or turkey print on it. We watch them for hours from the house, eating, fighting, bring new families, just living their lives. I've found newborn baby deer hiding on their first day of life while Mom is away eating, and they are the cutest effing things ever
