We haven't had inspections for years here in Oklahoma.

I was an Oklahoma state inspector for a few years in the 90's and back then the inspections were $5 and the shops tried to get the state to increase that price because by the time the shop paid the inspector the 3/4 of an hr to do the inspection the shop didn't make a dime. Then a few years after I became an aircraft mechanic, they did away with state inspections all together.

@@737mechanic I'm glad it's gone. I couldn't imagine dealing with the nitpicking. I already deal with it enough about them peaking over my 6ft privacy fence at my lots and constantly sending complaints about mowing or moving trailers off the lot, etc.. I can't stand a nanny state or big government; it drives me crazy more than anything else.

my check engine light is on but it’s a sensor problem. sometimes when i tighten my gas cap it goes away.

Tint as well..if windows directly to the right and left of driver are less than 25 percent they won't even do inspection cuz u'd fail

My drivers side mirror and door handle got knocked off because I got side swiped. Would I still pass?

Per Texas code, you only have to have 1 mirror that can see at least 200 feet to the rear of the vehicle so you are good. The problem is even many state inspection shops don't know the details of what is required.

Most places will not open the hood as long as the vehicle is 1996 or newer.

Lmao.. You should see what my local guys passed! 4 bald tires, NO REARVIEW mirror (it was in the seat) check engine light has been on for 3years and the third brake light was out. Took my 15bucks and said see ya next year! Same shop passes my 3rd car with the front license plate not installed. It's in the trunk. Small texas towns without emissions testing Is a joke. The thing with windshields is the cracks can't be in the line of vision.

I removed my front passenger seat so I can fit stuff. It makes the airbag light come on. Is that a problem?

No, the air bag light is a non-inspection item.

Most of them do a quick acceleration in the parking lot and hard braking to simply make sure the brakes are working right and not making noise.

You leave out don't bother trying to get an inspection if the pavement is wet. Inspectors will not inspect if the pavement is wet. I've spent half my day calling inspectors to see if they will inspect. All of them are citing financial liability as reason not to inspect. After they refused, I ask them if the state of Texas expects the car to stop on wet pavement? The answer is apparently not.

Auto repair industry and auto parts industries is in on this racket,a vehicle 3 maybe 5 years of age want need any repairs that much,my 2001 Chevy truck passes a smog test and that for air quality which is good,legal rip off
