I think its nice to hear people advocate for keeping this stuff stock. I like custom bikes but it's a bummer looking for old cb's and seeing a lot of hacked up half assed builds.
@mkruk24 жыл бұрын
The advice of keeping stock stuff is something everyone needs to take the heart. When working on my CB360 in the "cafe racer" phase, I binned a lot of perfectly usable parts. Years later when I changed the theme back to stock, I cursed at how much money I was spending on ebay for the same parts that I tossed!
@OtherDalfite2 жыл бұрын
Not only are you rebuying parts, they unfortunately are of lower quality. I had to replace the gas tank cap gasket on my ninja 250 (they don't sell the gasket separately, you have to buy a whole new assembly) and the new assembly was visibly much less sturdy to someone trying to break in.

Old video but hopefully you see this, I recently picked up a 75 cb360t. Do you think the stock manifolds and mufflers from a cl360 would fit easily to a cb360? I know Id have to bolt it on or do some light welding but im looking to know space wise if its worth while. Thank you and I appreciate the work you guys do. This is my first bike, was not running when I picked it up but I got it going. Need to figure out the left cylinder, and replace a load of parts but Im optimistic about it

Your bike is awesome, Caleb! I just picked up my first motorcycle, a '75 CL360, too! I'm slowly picking up parts to create more of a cafe racer style, and just picked up some Shinko244s - wondering where your rims are from, and what size they are? You did a really nice job, and thank you for the video!

Thanks Brandi! I actually have the factory 18" CL360 rims on the bike, I just painted them black a few years ago. Message our support over at common-motor.com if you need any help during your build!

Cool bike. I can't believe you cut out all of the bullet connectors and soldered all the connection. Glad you realized that was a bad move. I didn't realize you could blow a whole in a cylinder by being too lean. That's scary, I better double check my spark plugs and make sure they look healthy. Must have been extremely lean to do that kind of damage. Common-motor, you should have chased down the person who said they have a Sunbeam so you could do a video about that bike. I know it's not a Honda CB, but those are cool motorcycles. Honestly, I think they said Zundapp (not Sunbeam) which is also a cool vintage bike.
@Common-motor3 жыл бұрын
Oh yes it was a bad move for sure! I just enjoy making it impossible to work on my bike apparently. Jetting too lean is definitely catastrophic I would always stay on the rich side of things as barely edging towards that line especially the first time re-jetting. They are cool! He stopped and talked to me about it but it was his childhood bike he didn't still have the zundapp.

Great bike Caleb! Is the seat a little thinner than stock? I have a CL350 k5. Looking at that seat but hoping it’s a bit leaner than the stock seat. Also, I can’t make up my mind. Shinko tires like those (I would need a 2.75 up front because I’m on a 19) or the heidenau scramblers? Thanks for your time!
@Common-motor Жыл бұрын
I have an aftermarket texavina seat on this CL360 versus a stock that does have a slightly thinner profile. Shinkos can be good but I gotta say after a few months the 244's rode absolutely awful when I had them on mostly because of the offroad tread pattern. Parts of the knobs broke off and left them slanted, causing it to ride incredibly bumpy. I much prefer the golden boy shinkos for basic off road use. The heidenaus are fantastic if you are mostly riding on road.

@Common-motor3 жыл бұрын
I bought the motorcycle off craigslist for $1700(too much from what I know now). As for the budget haha I'm not sure, I spent too much going through several iterations to what it is now and redid a-lot of the bad "custom" products I had bought when I first got it. I thinking nowadays I could probably build the same motorcycle for no more than 3,500 if I found a good starting motorcycle.

Awesome bike! Quick question from a noob to bike mechanics but are you able to switch a standard muffler that goes under the bike to having it run up and along the side? Like you have going on with this bike?
@Common-motor2 жыл бұрын
Its going to depend on whether or not the high scrambler style pipes are made for your motorcycle. Either that or finding someone to make a custom set. Its all about the actual pipes though and not the mufflers though for that.

@ticosandoval4 жыл бұрын
@@Common-motor Texavina is great! They build nice replacements, and mount up solid to the stock hardware. Their seat pans are a little "soft" with regard to the metal in my opinion, but overall, a great option when the stock seatpan is unusable, or you want to have a custom cover. I just had one made for my CB175.

@Common-motor4 жыл бұрын
Just put 1 in each through the front. Since these mufflers have a baffle in there it holds the wire pad in. Just make sure you use a Stainless Steel Kitchen scrubbing pad. It has thicker wire that will stay inside your mufflers and the stainless steel will not rust.
