I bought this game in 2016, and finally got around to playing it during the Shelter-In-Place order. I've been missing out on great content all these years! Great video to get a late-comer like me up to speed.

How much did you spend in 2016 to 'buy this game'? Or did you mean buy the expansion? Because it seems GW2 it is free to play...
@Inaeth4 жыл бұрын
@@lgx22 GW2 eventually transitioned to F2P. Back in 2016, you still had to buy it. Also, only the base game is F2P, the expansions must be bought, as must the Living Story chapters.

Solid video as usual, and really glad you have the passion for Gw2 and the mmo genre as this is a huge huge help for anyone crafting. An in GW2 crafting = the best weapons and armor in game unlike many mmo's. Thank you as always Common Tate for the time these quality videos take to edit, script and upload. All the best.

I don't make extra newly discovered items and try to only make new discoveries. Also I salvage everything I make for the lower tiers. It grants me extra materials and luck essences. You can use the essences for artificer craft to make higher great essences. As for refinement don't make more than you need as some of them are also used for other craft leveling. At higher crafts you might want to use the magic forge or auction it at trading post. The pact mastery gives you a bonus in crafting. And it might be useful to buy a storage expander as 250 materials are easily filled up. Everything above 500 you can always auction. And you need to max out crafting to be able to make legendary armor and weapons.

Man a returning player since season 2 and man... How easy it was to brush over the discovery function. Somehow made it thru with decent exotics and a couple dungon and pvp loot and now, just started trying to craft gear and damn did I drive myself mad trying to figure out how to get these recipes! Wondering wtf was I gonna do with my world bosses materials.

A late reminder that Discovery will give you a good deal of crafting XP so like refinements you may wish to prioritize this - it means you'll be discovering all the different armor or weapon types instead of just recrafting the same one over and over, so make sure you keep salvaging the gear you create - also don't rush to the Trading Post for the final components, the intermediate or unrefined base components are a LOT cheaper on the Trading Post if you can keep track of how many you need. You can right-click any component directly from the crafting recipe window to Buy at Trading Post, but you still need to visit the Trading Post to pick up the components you bought. Keep a notepad handy :) and raise crafting 25 ranks every 5 character levels above 10

I'm finding crafting fairly difficult as a new player, the fundamentals of it seems a bit confusing being new. But more importantly, I can't seem to level up my crafts because the raw materials that you get outside of harvesting / mining / lumbering never seem to drop from mobs, or very little of these mats come from salvaging gear. After like a few hour session of the game just leveling and collecting mats I can only seem to increase my crafts by like 2-3 levels. Am I doing something wrong or is this a normal pace?
@CommonTate5 жыл бұрын
You can get some of those mats from salvaging gear too. You will need to gather if you don't want to spend money on the mats off the trading post. If you aren't power leveling a craft, I'd make it a weekly activity. Build up mats and get a few levels later. I usually just use GW2 craft.net and use gold to get it done
@bacIsInDaHouse5 жыл бұрын
I have the same feeling. It would've been fun if I could've crafted some low level gear and use it as my character was lvl 10-30. But I never had enough materials! Now my character is already lvl 80 and only craft low-level stuff because I need to level up my profession to craft better gear... Tbh, it doesn't feel like fun, more like a chore. Besides salvaging, harvesting and buying from trading posts, what might help is looking at the map and hover over certain areas to see what materials you can get there. Problem is you level faster than you can get your materials together. 😅

What level should I really start crafting? New player here
@CommonTate6 жыл бұрын
If you're crafting for character levels I tend to wait until around lvl 30. Just know you'll have to buy the higher tier mats of the TP. If you just want the craft to make weapons or armor, just level them as you level your character.

Nice video, but you've made 2 errors. Firstly, Jewelcrafting is useful for any level, as jewellery are buff-giving items which go into the "trinket" slots. Secondly, Scribing is also not level-dependent at all. The trainer NPC's are located in Guild Halls and the profession allows you to craft Guild Hall decorations, so you need to be in a guild first, but other than that, there are no differences between it and other disciplines.
@sir_ladykiller18034 жыл бұрын

im new to this mmo and i gotta say everytime i've picked up materials i just didnt know what to do with them. i would either sell them or destroy them to make room for armor and weapons. right now im sitting at level 26 and i JUST realized i can right click and store them under the bank tab. after that i was wondering what the fuck i do with a bottle of cum, so here i am watching your video! thank you for the in-depth explanation, Also, about what level should i start crafting?

@taegiseoktrash88745 жыл бұрын
Through the gemstore you can purchase something (not sure what its called from the top of my head but It wouldn't be too difficult to find when you look at the gemstore) it allows you to expand your material storage from 250 to 500, you can buy it again to get to 750,1000 etc and I believe 2000 is the max, personally I've been playing since 2012 and never bothered to get it, I think if you have an abundance of gold (to convert to gems) it might come in handy, it's more a QoL thing and not really necessary
@davidtaylor84065 жыл бұрын
@@taegiseoktrash8874 Thanks! I logged in after asking the question and investigated. There are three, I believe, bank upgrades. You can get extra slots, extra shared slots and expand the amount of each item you can carry.

i dont get it. i just wanna have a larger bag. (i am level 37 and can only craft 8 slot bags). i cant discover shit. coz my materials are not shown in the discover tab. i dont even see a 10 slot bag recipe. and no one fucking says how to get it. i guess by leveling up crafting, which i cant, coz trading is restricted for 3 more days. even tho i gathered every material i went by i cant level up.
@leblabbiy74895 жыл бұрын
Making 15 to 20 Axes in Discovery Tab is simply stupid. Making 2 (3) of every type with different inscriptions unlocks the recipes. All you do is push the crafting level, but your profession gets worthless. You are simply not able to craft anything but your "preferred" item later. Your "saving" in materials isn't real, because you need to go the complete discovery line for a different item again, as soon as you want to produce it for a twink in example.
