Happy 2025 everyone! How do you feel about this concept of a "communal wedding"? Would YOU be willing to get married in this way? On the surface it might seem strange to share your special day with other couples (who you might not even know). But on the other hand, most urban weddings nowadays consist of walking down the aisle in an expensive hotel banquet hall and it's really cool how "communal weddings" are helping keep unique traditions alive (and cut down on wedding costs 😂). What do you think?
@bengt_axle15 күн бұрын
Would definitely do it. No more "Why didn't you invite me, when you invited her?" Or, "Sorry, I'm not making that cake. It's against my religious beliefs"; "No you can't have it on that day, you might upstage another couple who have it on the same weekend", "It's $5K for the photographer."

Absolutely love it. Look, if you can afford it, have a lavish wedding. But my wife and I got married at home, with total attendance of 5 people. And we had a reception at a steak house. We were saving money for a house. Communal weddings look like a TON more fun and yes, they keep tradition alive!

China has a 5000 year old culture. The fact that they are trying to preserve their traditions like this inn this modern world we live in is so admirable. This is what the Western culture has been lacking in the past few decades. Any society must have a proper culture (based on natural human behaviors) to cherish.

According to one of my Chinese friends, it's to test how easily frightened the bride is - if she panics at the chicken being thrown over her, then it's not a good sign for the future! (idk if they will actually do anything about it though??? I mean you're already walking down the aisle you can't like cancel the wedding or something over that?? LOL). it's definitely a fascinating tradition but didn't go into detail in this vid since it wasn't featured in the wedding I was filming. would love to see a rural wedding someday with unique traditions like that

This is not a Muslim country, thankfully no religious leaders have any say in the legitimacy of our marriage ! Would prefer not to live in a country where that is a thing. On a cultural level, his parents aren't thrilled about our relationship and prefer he marry a Uyghur girl (because of cultural differences, etc) but there is no person/organization that would have the right to de-legitimize or refuse to recognize our marriage
