Watching this in 2022, and she mentioned so many things that are so spot on - antivax, pandemic, social media (tiktok now instead blogging). I wish more scientists, academicians, and researchers get to watch this.

I've just realised that this is from the "before times," which... I guess, makes this all of this even truer.

I really hope this will get more attention, we need to make sure that everyone can have better access to actually scientific news.

Based on the lack of likes and comments, it's pretty clear that science communication isn't at the forefront of today's society, still! I think one of the first ways to make these changes it to collaborate with other faculties within university settings! Researchers need to be in collaboration with journalists, film makers, visual artists, poets, tear down the borders between faculties of art and science to create accessible and culturally engaging material to share with the public. And as I believe Richard Feynman said ... if you can't explain something in simple terms, you just don't know it.

wow. I had to double check when this video was published when she mentioned the anti-vaccine movement. It seems that things have only marginally improved since then. I see a lot more scientists effectively using social media now.

I can take someone into the Franklin Institute museum in Philadelphia and he/she will come out amazed at sciences. I can then take that same person to the Creation Museum in Kentucky and he/she will come out amazed at science. Why isn't more effort being put into teaching how to know good from bad science before we teach the results of science?
