Communicating Statistical Evidence in Public Inquiries and in Court
Many public inquiries have a strong statistical element. I have been part of dedicated statistical teams assisting the Bristol Royal Infirmary Inquiry into child heart deaths, the Shipman Inquiry into the serial murderer, and the Infected Blood Inquiry into contaminated blood and blood products. I will talk about the challenges of preparing and communicating complex statistical evidence, particularly when the families of victims are sitting in the front row.
