Communication 101: Oversharing, and how to avoid it!
We've all met that person at the dinner party or networking event - they just tend to tell you TMI. Oversharing can also be a way to compensate in situations where you are uncomfortable or insecure, because you're not feeling confident. But the way to be happy, comfortable and confident is to communicate clearly and authentically, with an awareness of when you've said too much - if you want to really connect with people, you have to be mindful of when you might be pushing the limits. Be honest, be real - but be healthy and appropriate with your sharing, so you can really make genuine connections and build relationships. This is a quick video with communication tips you can really use.

I understand the content but the tone is quite harsh. People who over share often feel quite bad when they realize they have done it but don’t realize that they are over sharing at the time. Autistics and those with adhd have difficulties reading social cues, it’s not something they do on purpose or that they can easily or at all stop just like that. If I were an over sharer, this video would make me feel really guilty while it would not help me really prevent it.

Guilt and shame are useful tools. You won’t grow if you run away from them all the time.
